Under-eye dark circles are never cute.

You might have the most beautiful eyes ever, but if you have dark circles under those eyes, that’s all anyone will be looking at. Don’t want people to be distracted by your dark circles? You need to get rid of them. It’s easier than you might think!

Under-eye dark circles are distracting. And let’s face it- ugly. They make you look like you’ve been pulling all-nighters and are just worn down in general. But dark circles are also totally avoidable if you take the right steps.

1) Keep yourself hydrated. Sounds almost too easy, doesn’t it? This is one thing you should definitely be able to handle. Though there’s a lot of disagreement about how much water you should be drinking daily, it definitely can’t hurt to drink 6-8 glasses. It will help flush the toxins out of your body and will also hydrate your skin, thus helping to eliminate those ugly black circles.

2) Sleep. Another simple one. Those dark circles under your eyes make it look like you’re not getting enough sleep probably partly because you’re not! Eight hours is recommended and you should really try to get it…for more than just getting rid of the dark circles. Eight hours of sleep will improve your life all around.

3) Apply cucumber slices to your eyes. Yes, you’ve probably seen it in the movies, but it actually works. It also works with tea bags. Either slice a cucumber or place cool, damp teabags over your eyes for about 10 minutes. It’s nice and relaxing and will help you see a difference.

4) Apply almond oil under eyes. Almond oil is known for improving skin and if you place a little bit under your eyes, the dark circles will start to fade. It’s easy to find and is a lot less greasy than other oils.

5) Don’t smoke! Smoking will make your under eye circles much worse, so if for no other reason than vanity, don’t smoke!

  1. I wanted to add that sometimes those dark circles are SO heredity that they will not disappear no matter what one tries! Definitely a good eye gel can help, but also a great concealer and the ideas you mentioned. Taking care of the liver is also very important as liver toxicity shows up in and around the eyes. One thing I would suggest patch-testing for though, is the cucumber slices thing. I did this years ago and was so allergic – ended up with burning, itchy red welts around my eyes for 3 days after.

    Cheers!
