Fashions—A Closer Look at Martin Margiela Artisanal Collection
I just wanted to take a second to go back to Fashion’s Night Out at Fred Segal Center to post more photos of Martin Margiela‘s Artisanal line, which was on display. Everything from straws (used to create a tattoo-like tiger on the back of a jacket) to vinyl records (cut up in sections on a curve-hugging, one-shouldered frock), hair combs (strung together in a caged dress) to a melange of fabrications (intricately shredded, woven and cut) is reworked to create completely new and undeniably original pieces (including the hair coat). From each garment’s tag:
“We thank you for having chosen this Artisanal article. Existing garments, fabrics accessories and objects, new and old, have been reworked entirely by hand to create this article. This creative process ensures the uniqueness of each piece and intentionally encompasses the characteristics of passage of time and use normal for source materials of nature. For all these reasons the Maison Martin Margiela offers you a lifetime guarantee for your article. It includes the repair or the replacement of any defective clothing or accessories. We thank you for your confidence.”
So, thankfully, if you break one of your already broken records, they got you covered…
The tiger, the hair, the vinyl this way…
