Celebrity Beauty Trend: Nail Art
Katy Perry Loves Her Gems
It’s not just Katy Perry who’s been showing off her gem-encrusted fingernails! There have been quite a few celebs spotted who have embraced a fancier nail look on the red carpet and at special events recently. Is this a trend that you’ll try this season?
Katy Perry recently Tweeted that “Diamonds ARE [a] girl['s] best friend,” and showed off her diamond-y nails to the world. We don’t have to go that far for a similar look!
Keep this trick in mind for those times when you are going all-out, for a party or a huge event. I’m planning mine for the holiday season, for example, when ultra shine is just part of the package.
Aim for a look that combines monochromatic nail gems and color for a slightly more sophisticated look, like a glittery or sparkly silver nail polish with clear or silver nail gems. For a girly effect, you can try a very pale pink; for a tough effect, try black-on-black.
The easiest way to try the nail gem trend for yourself is to carefully place the gems onto freshly-painted nails, applying two coats of extra-strength topcoat after all the stones have been placed. My favorite topcoat is Sally Hansen’s Mega Shine, which is affordable and a great way to finish off your party-riffic nails. And a tip for the placement? You can pop gems on using an orange stick, which is a good precision tool that you probably already have in your manicure kit.
Will you attempt the nail art trend this season?
