Fall 2012 Fashion Week: Burberry Prorsum

Burberry Prorsum: Merging Physical and Digital With a Global Audience

Burberry explored the process of digitalization as it celebrated British fashion with a global audience. Burberry, the inventors of the “Tweetwalk” show, partnered with Twitter to host an animated “Tweetwalk” live from the runway. Prior to models actually strutting the runway, followers were given the opportunity to view the collection from backstage. Smart move, being thatBurberry is the most followed luxury brand on Twitter.

As for the Autumn/Winter 2012 womenswear lineup, we saw a plethora of what Burberry does best: coats. Paneled trench coats, cropped tailored bombers, draped blanket front coats, tiered peplum trench coats, cinched riding jackets neatly pulled in with a bow, and down-filled dress coats emerged in gorgeous shades of pebble, khaki, dark racing green, pewter, chartreuse, and burgundy.

The British countryside blossomed through rugby striped tees, draped blanket hem skirts and delicate shoulder bow dresses. Accessories popped with polished metal hardware (check out the gloves!) and tortoise shell detailing to create a look that was essentially refined, yet eclectic.

Bond No. 9 Central Park West

Inspired by the legendary address and the oasis of green that Central Park offers New Yorkers this latest fragrance by Bond No. 9 will surround you with botanicals from this urban grassland.  A great way to usher in spring.

The seventh park-inspired fragrance from Bond No. 9, Central Park West is an elegant scent
that will conjure up images of Art Deco style, Beaux-Arts buildings and the very essence of this famous New York neighborhood.  Combining Narcissus, a pinch of pepper and some ylang ylang it wakes the wearer up.  Notes of jasmine and linden set off a gardenia middle and are rounded out with base notes  of white oak and vetiver.

The bottle is a great reminder that spring is not just pastel shades but vibrant colors with whimsy thrown in for added effect.  A large hounds-tooth check set off by a pistachio green background with a dash of purple is rounded out by a detachable double-row pink beaded bracelet that can also be worn as a brooch.  Bond No. 9 Central Park West is a fragrance and a fashion piece that offers some gorgeous options.

Headed for stores like Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and, Central Park West is available March 15, 2012.

Yes, spring will be here before we know it and with warm weather comes the desire to use warm tones in our makeup.  Too Faced Natural at Night eye shadow palette is set of intense but warm colors that create dramatic yet soft nighttime looks.

Set in a pretty gold and brown box the palette contains six shadows.  Inside the box lid is something a little bit extra that will leave you squealing in delight.  Three tiny cards are stored inside the lid to show you gorgeous looks for the night that are smoky while still natural.  Beautiful shimmering shades in are broken down into three categories- Night, Classic and Fashion to provide even further instruction.  The lid color is the largest in each category while two complimentary shades of shadow lay nearby.  A total of nine matte, glittery and shimmer shadows round out the glamorous kit.

Too Faced Natural at Night Eyes palette is another feather in the cap of the entire Too Faced shadow collection. It is in good company with the other Too Faced eye palettes like Romantic,Matte, Natural and Naked.  Available at Ulta stores everywhere.

Cheryl Shops NYFW: Erin Fetherston Fall 2012

When & where: Saturday, February 11, 6-7 p.m., Milk Studios
Presentation recap: Though the venue logistics added some serious delays (15 people at a time could ride the elevator to enter the presentation space), once guests arrived in the showroom we were greeted by a live harpist who immediately erased any memory of this from our minds. The ethereal music combined with gilded tree trunks topped with forlorn-looking, dark-eyed models was a magical formula (add to this custom cocktails named after the designer). The dresses were absolutely lovely; a good percentage were floor-length gowns, and there was no shortage of chiffon, gold, sequins, and wispy patterns.

Bonus points: I’m not sure whether the “cosmic feather” pattern on some of the dresses is Fetherston’s play on her name, but if it is I’m tickled.

Where to buy: Visit the official site to purchase.

Fashion’s Obsession With Leopard Print Lives On!

Spring is right around the corner already, and if you still haven’t found a way to incorporate the year’s most popular print into your wardrobe yet, don’t fret – there’s still time! Leopard print rapidly reemerged on the fashion scene as a print to be proud of, no longer regarded as tacky (when done right, that is!) and the trend doesn’t seem to be showing signs of stopping anytime soon – certainly not before the upcoming spring season uses it to its advantage! Statement-making accessories are a great place to start if you’re looking to jump onboard the leopard trend without going overboard – pretty ballet flats or leopard-inspired shades from Prada stand out but aren’t too loud. A tote is also great – since leopard print is essentially composed of neutral shades, it easily coordinates with solids in your wardrobes and can also be mix-and-matched with contrasting prints if you’re feeling adventurous! A lightweight leopard scarf like this Roberto Cavalli Silk Scarf is an easy way to add leopard to your wardrobe this spring, and of course, a breezy 3/4-sleeve tee is the perfect spring transition piece!

Get a Celebrity Big Blow Out Now

  • posted February 22nd, 2012

Recently the Red Carpet has been seeing a lot of big blow outs.  From celebrities like Anne Hathaway, SJP and Beyonce it is clear that the big blow out look is back.  Glamorous, gorgeous  you can achieve this look with these tips and products.

1.  For a long lasting blowout you need mousse.  Apply a golf ball size amount, like Frederic Fekkai’s Extra Body, and place your hair into five sections.  Your prep work is now complete.

2.  Using a round brush take the back sections of your hair and dry them forward using the brush for rolling and not your wrist. Once each section is dry pin them in place with a bobby pin into pin curls. You can dry the pin curls for more bounce.

3.  Roll your brush vertically or backwards throughout your hair.  Take each area and apply heat then a blast of cold air to set the style and eliminate frizz.  You can pin all but the top section again.

4. The top section is the most important part of this look.  It allows the hair to frame the face.  Blow dry this area by rolling your hair into the brush and going back.  Apply a good hair spray like L’oreal’s Elnett Satin hairspray to your hair.

5.  Finish by removing pins and running fingers through your hair to merge all the sections.  Spray again and flip hair back. Use a curling iron to touch up any face framing pieces of hair. Apply a few drops of shine serum or spray to complete the look.

You are now Red Carpet ready!
