Animal Prints & Bold Textures Backstage at Burberry Prorsum
Brit-based fashion house Burberry is most known for its classic trenchcoats and “less is more” understated style, but for its Burberry Prorsum Womenswear Autumn/Winter 2013 showcase, the brand decided to walk on the wild side with a series of bold patterns, fabrics, and accessories! From tried-and-true leopard to more adventurous patterns like zebra and giraffe, as well as elevated fabrics like cashmere, glossy calfskin, and python-printed leather, the Autumn/Winter collection was vastly diverse but at the same time perfectly cohesive, making kitschy animal prints (and contrasting animal prints, no less!) look luxurious and sophisticated in true Burberry fashion. The accessories, including leopard-print kitten wedges, metallic belts, and glossy tassel-covered handbags, accentuated the rest of the collection without overpowering or clashing. Sheath dresses, oversized sweaters, shell tops, cropped trousers, and bolder takes on their classic designer coats – Burberry’s fall collection is actually making me want to fast-forward to gloomier weather, believe it or not!
