Brighten Up Back-to-School with Accessories from Invite.L

invite l office supplies invite.L brightens up your office

I have a big love for felt and I’m always trying to think of ways to use the felt leftover from the christmas stockings I attempted to make. I would love to create some of these items from Invite.L. Obviously the felt I have is cheap (and I don’t know how to do it), and the felt they use for these beautiful items is probably amazing. I love the classic pencil pouch in bright colors and I wouldn’t mind one of those document filers either. Which item is your favorite?

thefind ceiling fan swizz style csn lightingSummer’s not over yet and certain areas may still be experiencing record-breaking high temperatures. But no matter where you live, saving some bucks on air conditioning would make anyone feel more comfortable.

Running a fan can be much more energy efficient, particularly if you’re only experiencing moderate heat or don’t need the whole house cooled down. Ceiling fans are even useful in winter when you can use them to circulate rising heat back down to where you’re sitting or sleeping.

To start your search, Westinghouse has a whole range of affordable ceiling fans to go with any style. Invest in a model with integrated lighting for double the function. But if going green and cooling off are equal priorities for you, invest in the Velo ceiling fan. It’s EPA Energy Star certified so, on average, it’s 50% more energy efficient than standard models.

Of course, sometimes you don’t even need a ceiling fan or can’t install one easily. Converted garage-offices, smaller rooms that don’t get much air circulation, or a room that just plain gets hot because of a computer – there are a lot of reasons to just use a portable fan. So, snag yourself the Swizz Style Otto fan. It’s super quiet so as not to distract you and you might not even notice it’s presence if it weren’t so good looking.

Party Time

thefind cb2 barbecue set folding table outdoor furniture

July 4th, enjoying your pool or yard, watching sports, just because – you name, there’s a reason to have a party in the summertime. And while you want the most talked about thing of any party to be all about the good time people had, that doesn’t mean you can ignore the unsung heroes that are essential to a successful get together. To help you party harder and smarter, here are some things you’ll need to check off your list:

A table. It seems obvious, but don’t go thinking it’s unimportant: help yourself and your guests by getting a sturdy, outdoor foldable table that can hold your body weight in potato salad. You’ll thank yourself later, particularly when you face the inevitable clean-up and realize you need to stash this piece somewhere until your next soiree.

An ice bucket. No one likes warm beer or summer drinks. CB2′s party tub couldn’t possible have a better name, and it’ll come to your rescue in a bright design with comfortable handles you’ll be proud to display.

Last but not least: a bottle-opener. But not just any bottle opener. Never lose track of perhaps the most necessary party-implement of all by grabbing a clever barbecue set with built-in bottle-openers on the handles. The grillmaster is always the de facto leader of a party anyway, right?

Fun & Functional

thefind design modkat dualit toaster litter boxCan you really put the fun in functional? Why was it ever taken out in the first place? The following items prove that you can have it all – looks, enjoyment, and utility.

Starting in the kitchen, you can have a timer that works like rolling a die (without any chance involved!). Just place the Cubic Timer with the number of minutes you need facing up and it’ll automatically start counting down. You can set it to 3, 10, 30, and 60 minutes automatically, or program the time like a traditional kitchen timer on the bottom. The timers are a perfect counterpart to a retro-style, modern-function Dualit toaster. These appliances have all the settings you need, in all the colors you could possibly want.

For any cat-owner, nothing is more essential than a litter box, but nothing is an equally loathsome chore or eyesore, either. In comes the Modkat litter box to save your space, your style, and your time. Cats enter from the top which saves square-footage for you. Plus, whenever your cat climbs out, the kitty litter won’t get tracked around the house because of the Modkat’s perforated lid. To clean, just lift the lid and the reusable tarp liner has handles for effortless emptying. Now you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy all the other fun things to do in your house.

Outdoor Oasis

So you’re settling into the idea of a “staycation” or you’re warming up to the idea of having people over; you go outside to your backyard and realize… it’s hardly the getaway you’d like it to be.

For a moment, forget the full set of backyard furniture and the “outdoor dining room.” The most important part of making your slice of outdoors habitable is protection from the outdoors. Coolaroo’s sail shades will get you on your way to enjoying the weather without suffering from it. They also don’t slack-off in style: you can pick from a great variety of colors to create an elegant palette in addition to a welcoming patio area.

For a cheaper, but more flexible, solution: check out IKEA’s Ramso umbrellas. They’re bright, cheery, and easy to plop just about anywhere.

Now you can finally concentrate on cozying up the place and making it perfect just for you. And really, is there anything more relaxing than a hammock? The jumbo hammock chair might be the simplest solution if you’re lacking the ideal palm-tree placement. Just hang from any single suspension point that’s taller than 8ft and you’ve got yourself an outdoor oasis.

Guest Bath

thefind west elm mothology succulent beekmans 1802 bathroom

Regardless of whether or not you use your guest bathroom for guests, it’s the little things in a bathroom that can really count – long-term or for a few days visit. So make anyone’s experience in your home better, especially if it’s you!

Any bathroom can be a cozy, relaxing space with a sweater rug from West Elm. Doesn’t it just sound wonderful? Minimal but textured for interest, the wool-and-cotton rug is perfect underfoot – and no more hopping around to avoid freezing feet on tile floors.

Next, provide fresh towels (and lots of hospitality) to yourself or a visitor in an easy and attractive hamper like these Mothology canvas carry-alls. Everything anyone might need for a near spa-like experience – including a decadent, natural soap from Beekman 1802 - can be packed in and placed inside the bathroom so no one has to second-guess which towels are okay to use.

Lastly, add a touch of greenery to a small guest bathroom with a succulent terrarium. They’re ridiculously low-maintenance and easy to have around just about anywhere – exactly the way you hope your guests will be.

Homey Kitchen

thefind cb2 fog linen work emile henry kitchenKitchens are often the center of a home. Whether or not it’s in the floor-plan, gathering and catching up over meals is a universal tradition. So while a welcoming kitchen can certainly have many appearances and styles, pieces that recall a warm, cozy hearth can be the decor equivalent of comfort food.

Starting at the table, Fog Linen Work is a Japanese company creating quality linen textiles with simple, traditional patterns that always invite you to pull up a chair. Plus, linen tablecloths and napkins are easy to wash and are meant to be used over and over again.

Emile Henry earthen kitchenware are similarly timeless and durable. With a full range of pots, baking, and serving dishes, you could easily kit out your entire kitchen but their pitchers and pie dishes are easily the most classic Americana.

Lastly, if you need some extra storage or any kind of a pantry in your kitchen, go with a CB2′s rustic-yet-refined coop tower. Chicken coop cubbies mixed with a little mid-century design and a raw industrial finish makes sure no one would actually assume you have chickens running around the house.
