Do you have a child with an entrepreneurial spirit? Does he/she want to run a lemonade stand in the summer or make and sell Christmas cards during the holidays? If so, Adam and Matthew Toren have written a book called Kidpreneurs to help teach them how to run a business.

Written specifically for 7 to 13 year olds, Kidpreneurs outlines some basic tools and strategies kids can use to gain valuable experience in starting, managing, and growing a successful business venture. The book highlights some key techniques and easy to understand basic principles of business practice. There are even chapters on business ethics, giving back to the community and being green.

Give your little entrepreneur a head start with Kidpreneurs!

Where do your notes start?

My Moleskine notebook is the first place I jot down things from items to add to my grocery list, to to-dos, and random thoughts of which there are tons, important dates, gift ideas, and other ramblings. From there I usually add those notes to the appropriate iPhone app such as Shopper or NotifyMe.

Without my Moleskine notebook, my thoughts may never make it to completion. What a disaster that would be!

Moleskine notebooks and planners are available in several sizes. The 3.5 x 5.5 in. pocket notebooks are the perfect size to carry in a purse or diaper bag and are great for jotting down your baby’s latest diaper change or that funny thing your toddler said during your playgroup. I use the large A4 Folio Notebook for work notes and for jotting down thoughts I have while at home or in my office.

Moleskine notebooks, journals, and planners make great holiday gifts! Get a pocket hard cover 18 month planner for $12.95 or my favorite Moleskine gift idea is the Volant Color-A-Day Monthly Daily Planner (photo above) which is usually $39.95 but our readers get 30% off by using the link below.

COUPON CODE:

Use coupon code COLORDEAL, and get 30% off of the Volant Color-A-Month Daily Planner (no minimum, no maximum). The coupon is only valid on that item, and it’s good through 12/31/09. Use this link to go straight to the Color-A-Month planner page and automatically apply the coupon code to the cart.

by Carlina Harris

Heels have been getting taller and taller lately- eight inches anyone? My feet really can’t handle it (being Lady Gaga for Halloween definitely took a toll on my poor tootsies- but it was sooo much fun being her)!
(gaga on left, geisha on right)

Hence, I am pretty excited that flats are so back, in a big way. No longer do you have to be tall to be chic. Flats can be fabulous too. Winter is just around the corner, give your toes some sass, and sparkle with some of my favorite flat picks.

Sparkle and Shine:

Sequins and rhinestones are big hits during the holiday season, why not bring the bling to your feet? Sassy flats can be as statement making as any old pair of platforms. Tone down the rest of your outfit, as to not appear a walking talking Christmas display. Go ahead and turn up the bright on your feet and watch heads turn!

Studded Styles:

These stunner’s are just too hot to trot (in). Fashion folks round the world have professed their undying love for this hardware, seen on purses and clothes. Obvious shoes were getting a bit jealous!

Menswear:

Another huge trend. It has been creeping up on us in form of button downs, slacks, fedora’s, and now shoes. I already own a fabulous pair of taupe oxfords, but may have to get another- the price on the F21 ones are great!

The holiday season is just around the corner so don’t shop until the last minute. You can find some great beauty items right now and save a ton of money. I rather compile a list and start shopping now instead of waiting until there’s a mob scene. I found a couple of great stocking stuffers for just under $25 . Hopefully these will help narrow your holiday gift ideas list.

1. Demeter Holiday Stocking Stuffers 2009- I came across this on the qvc.com site and I thought this was the most coolest stocking stuffer. If you’re a Demeter fan like myself check out this holiday gift idea. Four different bottles of Demeter’s top-selling scents in Egg Nog is a sweet scent of nutmeg and cinnamon (Yummy!), Snow is a cool and crisp scent, Christmas tree is a joyful holiday scent, and Mulled Cider is a fab combination of apples and holiday spice. $20 at qvc.com

2. Bath and Body Works Perfect Hands in Warm Vanilla Sugar- This store is loaded with fantastic stuffers for under $15. You must stop by Bath and Body Works and check out what they have to offer. I chose this particular stocking stuffer because Warm Vanilla Sugar is my favorite scent and my hands could use some extra moisture this winter. It comes with hand cream and antibacterial Pocket Bac that’s beautifully wrapped.

3. Pureology Pure Volume Holiday Stocking Stuffer- Pureology is excellent organic hair care product so if you’re looking for an eco-friendly product, this is the perfect gift idea. It comes with Pureology shampoo, conditioner, blow dry amplifier, and essential repair split end correcting treatment all in petite sizes. $21 at pureology.com

4. Philosophy The Winter Escape- A trio of fireside-inspired luxuries. Philosophy always make great gifts especially for the holidays. Treat yourself to a warm shower or bath in peppermint Hot Cocoa Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath. One bottle, three uses. Fantastic! The gift set also includes Marshmallow body souffle and Marshmallow Flavored Lip Shine. Don’t skip out on these winter treats! $25 at Sephora
We all need a great black handbag in our closets. As much as I love splurging on a bag that is extremely unique, it is important to have that classic, must-have, go-to bag. Leave it to Chloe to answer this need. The Chloe Kira Leather Bowler Bag is a complete drop dead gorgeous bag that will transcend seasons. The leather is supple, touchable and flawless. I love the chain-embellishment trim and oversized studs at the front and back of the bag. With these small details the bag went from just another black handbag to a fabulous drool-worthy bag. There is a detachable shoulder strap as well as two top handles. I think the double handles would be better than the shoulder strap yet that strap could really help out when you have your hands full. The bowler shape means that you will have ample storage space inside the bag with plenty of pockets. Again, this bag is a classic and worth the investment.

There is no question that Herve Leger (the man) is an incredibly talented, if not visionary, designer. In the ’80s and ’90s, his skintight bandage dresses showcased their wearers’ aerobicized bodies, but also sculpted and highlighted them in a sexy yet flattering way, thanks to the dresses’ tightly knit bandage construction. The grunge years were not kind to Leger, however, and Max Azria eventually bought his company in the late ’90s. Azria himself took over as designer when the line relaunched in 2007, and while many in the fashion industry (myself included) weren’t exactly holding their breath, Azria has managed to totally revive the house of Leger, and each runway collection of his improves upon the last, exploring new ways to interpret the iconic shape. The bandage dress is definitely having a moment right now, and when it comes to your upcoming holiday party-season dress, there’s no better choice.

$$$
If you’re going to invest in a bandage dress, you might as well go for the real thing. Shopbop has a great selection of Herve Leger dresses, but my favorite is the angled bandage cocktail dress, which, due to the diagonal construction of the panels, will have a very flattering effect on a wide range of women, emphasizing the positive aspects of one’s figure. Think of it as gorgeous scaffolding for your body.

Of course, it’s always interesting seeing how other designers interpret such an iconic look. Alexander Wang’s lace bandage dress isn’t quite as skintight as something you’d expect from the master of downtown-sexy dressing, but with its lace overlay and draped effect in the shoulder, it’s even, dare I say, a bit elegant.

Even more forgiving to the figure is Preen’s power bandage dress. It still retains the banded effect in the bodice–and the back has a very sexy cutout detail–but the peplum skirt skims the hips to hide a multitude of flaws.
More bandage dresses after the jump…

$$
I am a firm believer that one can never have too many little black dresses, and thus you can’t really go wrong with the little black bandage dress. This Juicy Couture bandeau dress is definitely little, and it must stay up by some feat of engineering. The exposed back zipper keeps it interesting, and the price is quite nice too.

This Leifsdottir dress calls itself bandage; if we were getting picky, I’d probably qualify this as ruched. But nevertheless, this style of bandage dress–with asymmetrical, ruched panels–was all over the spring runways, so it’s a chance to jump on a trend a few months early. I also like that it has sleeves, which are almost essential when going to parties in the dead of winter.

Of course, the nice thing about Max Azria owning Herve Leger is that the designs trickle down to Azria’s other (i.e. more affordable) labels. Take this blouson dress for example: It has a very BCBG-esque billowy top, but a signature Leger banded skirt, giving it the best of both worlds. If you wear it under a boyfriend jacket, you might even be able to get away with wearing this to work.

$
Onto the bargains, but I suggest approaching these only if you have an incredible body and/or keen knowledge of Spanx, as none of these will likely be as well constructed as the looks above. Nevertheless, this colorblock dress from Arden B is probably the most forgiving of the three picks, and it takes a cue from the BCBG look above, with its two-in-one look. This is a pretty basic look, but it would be great for layering, and could benefit from some statement jewelry.

The copy for this Wet Seal dress claims one can wear it during the day with a cardigan. I would discourage that. I mean, look at it.

Finally, this Guess miter bandage dress is a best-seller, and you can see why. The long sleeves make it seem almost demure; the wide V-neckline and empire waist are flattering (making the shoulders seem wider makes your hips look smaller); and Guess clothes are generally pretty well made. Again, Spanx are likely in order, but since this dress is only $138, you’ll likely have some money left over for the shapewear department.
From our friends at Cheryl Shops

We put a lot of stuff in our hair shampoo, conditioner, products, and color. The good news is that hair care products are made mostly of water. The bad news is that the chemical ingredients that actually do the work—chemical detergents, dyes, fragrances, and conditioners—aren’t always safe for you or good for the environment. Dyes and colors often come with ingredient lists that are 60 or 70 chemicals long and can be pretty toxic. Aubrey Organics Color Me Natural is made of chemical-free all natural ingredients. This mild ayurvedic blend of botanicals gently coats the hair for vibrant, stable color that lasts without damaging your hair. Covers gray and enhances your own natural hair color.

There are so many fabulous high/low designer collaborations this year, it’s getting hard to keep track! Here are the collections we’re coveting:

1. Jimmy Choo for H&M

This is probably the most anticipated designer collaboration of the season. Jimmy Choo has designed a line of shoes, clothing, accessories, and menswear. The line hits stores Nov. 14, but here’s a sneak peek from the lookbook.

View the rest of the looks on myfashionlife.com.

2. Rodarte for Target

While not as well-known and established as Jimmy Choo, Rodarte has quickly garnered a solid following of fashion-savvy celebrities and consumers. The collection for Target will consist of 55 pieces that are modern, feminine, and trendy. The line will be available starting Dec. 20, so save some holiday money to buy yourself a present!

3. Opening Ceremony and Keds

The result will launch at Opening Ceremony in December, and the sneakers will retail for $125 each. Here’s a preview from Style.com’s fashion blog, Stylefile. The animal print is exotic for sneakers – wear a pair with jeans and a black tank for a slightly punk rock vibe.

Here is a photo of two pairs available via racked.com – they look both comfortable AND chic, always a winning combination!

In today’s economy that is a bad, bad word. Because really? How many of us actually have the money to spend on anything luxurious? Yet, when we do, it is like coveting a prized possession. My friends (Channeling John McCain when I say that), David Yurman’s newest addition to his fragrance collection, Luxurious Body Cream, is one of those possessions you will covet.

Glass jar. Gold covered cap. The rich scent of amber mixed with a very pretty floral fragrance…you’ll feel the need to slap on your favorite LBD and heels when wearing this body cream. It smells that good. There’s no need to even wear perfume when you use it, although no worries, it is not overbearing in scent. The best part is that it not only smells indulgently sexy, it also hydrates your skin making it feel supple and smooth.

It’s not too often that I wear, or even like, perfume-scented lotions and creams, but this fragrance ignites visions of a more youthful and sexy me, that I simply adore it. Or it could be because I am now 35 and am reflecting on my younger days…ahh nostalgia.

David Yurman’s Luxurious Body Cream is available for $90 at www.DavidYurman.com Have you tried it?

From our friends at A Girl’s Gotta Spa
