Vintage Pick Of The Day: U is for Ungaro

Trina Turk launched her colorful fashion brand in 1995 and says there are no bad colors, just bad color combinations. And while so many women despair that they just don’t know how to put colors together, I believe you instinctively know what colors look good on you and which colors flatter you most. It’s all about trusting yourself more and worrying less.

Of course, you can always rely on the experts to help you out. Ease your suffering by choosing prints that pop by designers who know their way around color. For instance, today’s VPOD features an ultra-colorful and ultra-fabulous 1980s vintage silk skirt by Ungaro. With its high waist, side pockets, four buttons and wicked print, simply add a tee or blouse in black or white and you’ll be set to go.

It’s a chic and colorful find for a vintage fashionista!

Paul Smith’s Sensational Sunnies

paulsmithsunnies

A friend and I shopped to beat the San Francisco heat last weekend. Although we were not really in the market for sunglasses, we spent a good deal of time squatting in the air conditioned Sunglass Hut trying on dozens of shades. Our favorite is this revamped version of Oakley’s 80s classic Frogskins sunglasses in a cute confetti pink. They are part of a recent collaboration of Paul Smith and Oakley that is limited to four colors and only 500 pieces of each. I can’t really picture myself walking around the city in these sunglasses but they would look great with a bikini and the beach. $325 at Paul Smith.

Retro Fabulous: Carrera Safari Sunglasses

Carrera_safari_sunglasses
We’ve scouted out more ‘80s inspiration to keep you looking drop-dead cool and smartly shaded. Hot on the tails of this retro '80s trend are Carrera Safari sunglasses. The oversized plastic aviators are emblazoned with the iconic “C” logo complete with racing stripes. The classic aviator shape along with the plastic frames and gradient lenses make for a pair of sunglasses with celebrity style appeal and extreme coverage from blazing rays or paparazzi flashes. Pick from the camo striped “Havana”, a sublimely sweet version in pink or a brown/ochre gold combo a la Richie Tenenbaum. The terrycloth tennis headband is optional.
