Make The Most of Your Summer Maxi Dress Look With The Perfect Accessories From SSENSE!

This season, it’s all about the ever-flowing summer maxi dress. But how do you take the simple, effortless warm-weather staple and turn it into something that’s unforgettably statement-making? It’s all about choosing the right accessories, which will help elevate the look from something you just threw on to the epitome of casual summer glamour! First off, given the maxi dress’s voluminous shape, you want to make sure you do your curves justice – cinch your dress in at the waist with a coordinating belt, which will also serve to add some on-trend edge to your otherwise super-feminine look. Furthermore, maxi dresses look best on vertically-gifted girls, but if you’re not supermodel-tall, don’t fret – fake it by sporting some sky-high platform sandals to add the illusion of extra height! And last but not least, complete the look with the perfect floppy sun hat, so you can beat the rays while also giving off the perfect dash of boho-chicness! You’ll find these and more summer styles at SSENSE.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Masters The Colorful Oversized Watch at Watch Station!

It’s official: I’m a recently re-converted watch lover. In this day and age in which our most trusted timepiece is our cell phone and some elementary schools don’t even teach kids how to tell time in analog form anymore (seriously!), watches as functional items are becoming increasingly obsolete. But as with many fashion trends that are clearly more for fashion than function (gauzy scarves that don’t keep you warm, peep-toe booties, sequins, etc.) – I’ve come around from my skepticism and am ready to embrace the realm of candy-colored watches, whether or not I actually need an extra reminder of what time it is! This season, Marc by Marc Jacobs has plenty of bold-faced pieces to consider, from brightly hued leather to oversized silicone straps that fit comfortably on your wrist alongside this season’s equally color-festive friendship bracelets and metal-studded fare! More luxe than that Casio Baby-G you used to rock back in junior high, yet still plenty of fun, these watches from Watch Station will help you have your most stylish, colorful summer yet!

This Mother’s Day, Treat Mom To Jewelry Gifts From Sundance!

If I had a nickel for every time my mother has either asked for my advice on jewelry or to borrow from my own collection of baubles, I’d probably have enough money to buy her an entire wardrobe of trinkets for easy accessorizing. And since Mom and I do have differing tastes when it comes to jewelry (my latest slew of friendship bracelets and studded “arm candy” aren’t exactly her style), I’ve decided to start small by gifting her with some luxe yet ladylike jewelry pieces this Mother’s Day. Lucky for us web-savvy shoppers, the Sundance Catalog contains something for every mom – from sleek sterling silver watches to vintage-inspired cocktail rings and even a little bling for the mom who isn’t afraid to stand out – and boasts unique pieces at an affordable price (you know, so we shoppers still have enough left to spend on our own spring jewelry collection)! Check out my picks below include the Footprint Necklace,  and browse the rest of the gift-ready Mother’s Day pieces on Sundance’s official website!

Throw an Arm Party! 5 Edgy-Chic Spiked Bracelets

When it comes to bracelets, more is definitely more these days! Stacked bracelets and bangles – also known as “arm candy” and “arm parties” in the trend world – have been serving to add extra texture to all sorts of spring ensembles, from romantic maxi dresses to your favorite tee and colored denim get-up. Mixed metals, spikes, studs, and even friendship-bracelet-inspired trinkets are being stacked and layered in a way that’s purposely excessive yet oh so right, and the one must-have on everyone’s forearm is a statement-making spiked bracelet! Let your inner bad girl out with these rocker-glam pieces, which don’t come off quite as quite as extreme as they look when worn with a bounty of other girlier bracelets, but make a super-cool statement that reads more modern than costumey! Check out the selection pictured above, and get started with your own spiky arm party!

Beat The Heat With These Neon-Accented Sunglasses!

I know it seems counterproductive to beat the sun’s blinding rays with a pair of even more blindingly bright sunglasses, but sometimes fashion surpasses all logic aside! After all, these super-cool neon shades are hard to pass up! If you haven’t already noticed, it’s going to be pretty hard to avoid eye-popping neons for the upcoming spring season so far, so even if you’re not much of a nu-raver – or still consider the 90s to be the worst decade ever (*gasp!*) – you might as well embrace the trend and use it to your own advantage. After all, neon looks awesome against a summer glow, so if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em! To pull off this trend without looking like you bounced off the stage of Kids Incorporated (remember that show?), or worse – like you just bought your accessories from the local 99 cent store, the key is to stick to fashion-forward silhouettes or strategic neon detailing, so the look is edgy and chic instead of dated, stale, or cheap. For example, these GaGa-esque square shades are white hot, with the perfect dash of neon orange just at the sides. These circular-framed Karen Walker sunnies and Emporio Armani aviators take a similar ‘less is more’ approach when it comes to neon, keeping their highlighter yellow details to just the side panels. And if you’re willing to embrace the neon-framed trend head-on with all-over neon, try out these Kate Spade Florence Broadhurst cat-eye frames for a sexy retro-modern look!

Luxe Camera Bags For The Stylish Sharpshooter

I’m not much of a photographer (unless you count my better-late-than-never obsession with Instagram for Android), but like my most people in this day and age, I do have a digital camera… and admittedly, I don’t take good enough care of it. In the midst of all my hassle-free mobile photo uploading, I’m pretty sure my digital Canon has been thrown to the wayside and is currently floating at the bottom of one of my night-out purses… unguarded and unprotected, save for a few stray kleenexes that are hopefully keeping it safe from any unsightly scratches. However, despite this downright careless behavior, I’m pretty confident that I’d take a much more active interest in keeping my camera close at hand if it had its own special handbag. Just in time for the spring and summer season (prime photog opportunity times, of course!), some of our favorite accessories brands are rolling out a slew of super-fabulous camera bags. Whether you keep it simple with a straightforward point-and-shoot, or take your craft a bit more seriously with some spiffy upgraded equipment, it’s hard to deny the appeal of keeping your gear safe with the right stylish bag. And who knows – with this added reason to haul your camera around, maybe you’ll end up appreciating your surroundings more and taking more pictures than you normally would this upcoming season. And not just the Instagram kind!

Pretty Python Accessories From Camille Zarsky

If there’s one thing I love more than exciting, sexy takes on the standard set of neutral accessories, it’s exciting neutrals paired with statement-making colors! Neons are already Spring’s hottest new obsession, and neutrals will always be in, so you have to admire a designer who seamlessly blends the two contrasting trends together to form fashionable pieces that are sophisticated yet spunky! New York based designer Camille Zarsky is new at designing her own collection (after years and years of working for fashion bigwigs like Hugo Boss and Rebecca Minkoff), but she’s already a pro at mastering this trendy hybrid of colors and textures. Sticking to her signature python skins and sexy, snaky prints, her bags, clutches, and cuffs are made with the utmost craftsmanship but still exude a fun, easy effortlessness that anyone with an eye for fun, contrasting shades and trendy textiles can appreciate! Check out her latest collection of spring-ready accessories on her official website, as well as her offerings on Bluefly!

Bold, Bright Baubles From Lydell NYC Jewelry!

With over 20 years of experience under their belt, leading New York-based jewelry brand Lydell NYC is certainly accustomed to the spotlight. With regular features in People Style Watch, In Style, Lucky, and other trend-setting publications, it’s an understatement to say that the company has established itself as a trusted source of all things fabulous. Statement necklaces, pendants, cuffs, beaded bracelets, cocktail rings, earrings, and more – Lydell NYC isn’t afraid to revamp, refocus, and innovate their line to fit the demand of the ever-changing fashion industry, while never failing to stay true to their chic sense of style. And just in time for Spring, their recent trinkets feature a festive collection of bold, geometric shapes, and on-trend highly-saturated hues that make it effortlessly easy to incorporate punched-up color into your wardrobe this season, even for those more color-shy gals who aren’t quite ready to rock a neon color-blocked ensemble or a florescent pink floor-length dress a la Jennifer Lopez. Check out the rest of the jewelry goodies on their official site!

Retro-Fabulous Shades From Selima Sun For J. Crew!

Rain, shine, or snow, I rarely need an excuse to update my ever-growing collection of sunglasses (in fact, I get angry when certain stores “hibernate” their selection of shades for the winter), but now that it’s officially spring (and summer is fast-approaching!), the time is ripe for expanding your eyewear wardrobe! And luxury optics designer Selima Sun is making things easier for us indecisive girls with her limited-edition capsule collection with J. Crew! The just-released series features three different vintage-inspired styles (6 pairs in all) – the Lou, a 60s-inspired round design, the Sophia, a classic thick-framed cat-eye, and the Belle, a modern square style. The collection retails at a range of $115-128, so if you plan on indulging in these retro-modern shades (and you definitely should – before they’re gone for good!), be sure to keep them protected. I’m sure I’m not the only clumsy gal who has accidentally broken more than her share of pricey frames!

Yikes, Spikes! Assad Mounser’s Edgy-Chic Jewelry

Amanda Assad Mounser’s fierce  jewelry line may be young at just three years old, but when it comes to designing statement-making baubles, the New York native is clearly a pro. Having worked previously for Moschino and Alejandro Ingelmo, Amanda used her experience to branch out and create her own 70s-inspired glam-rock jewelry that mixes both natural and man-made materials for a jewelry line that’s part boho-chic, part rocker-inspired. While her agate and quartz pieces have been earning her plenty of praise by the likes of In Style, Vogue, Marie Claire, Nylon, and more, it’s her spike-embellished jewelry that’s really got my attention! I love how she plays with contrasting textures – woven silk thread, chunky metal chains, and glimmering stones – for looks that manage to be elegant with just the right amount of edge. They’re perfect for the girl who likes to toe the line between gorgeous and dangerous, and they’re the perfect addition to a look that’s sophisticated but never boring or safe.
