Must Have’s for Traveling with Kids

kids-travel-gear
Are you like me, a parent who doesn’t give it a second thought to taking your kids on a plane or train at a moment’s notice?  I once took my girls to New York for three hours.  The trip up and back took longer.  It was a whirl wind of a day to be sure.  If you are like me and you love to travel and often want to bring your kids but are a bit gun-shy on how to get started then read on!

Obviously planning in advance has its benefits in a situation like travel with kids but having a few of the items below will also make your next trip a lot easier on you, the kids and your sanity.

The On-the-Go Potty- It might seem a bit strange at first but think about it this way.  You don’t have to go but your toddler does.  You don’t want to drag everyone out of the car or disrupt potty training either.  The On-the-Go Potty is tiny, affordable ($10) and packs easily into a diaper bag.  It also has disposable liners that are simple to remove and throw away.

Get to know the Classy Kids line of travel products.  Whether you are on a plane or train, dining outside or in a restaurant you can be sure Classy Kids has an item for your next trip.  I swear by the disposable bibs, diaper sacks and placemats.  Their products are biodegradable and great in fighting germ warfare.  I keep a set of the color-me (crayons included!) place-mats and diaper sacks in my diaper bag at all times.

The Gold Standard- Lilly Gold that is.  This Nap Sac ($70)  is drool-worthy.  It not only comes with a waterproof pad, two bed sheets and is a portable bassinet and changing table all in one, it is stylish to boot!  It’s durable, has expanding side pockets and it’s compact.  There are others on the market like it but they are not quite this caliber.

These products are just a few of the items that have saved me time and a case of the crazies when I have traveled with my kids.  There are loads of others from portable desks to tiny wheeled suitcases and more.  Traveling with kids has never been easier or more fun!

Baby Food Made Easy

babyfood

If you are a new mother who is ‘going green’ or trying to save money making your own baby food is an excellent step in the right direction.  Not only does it allow you full control over what your baby eats, but guarantees that your child is eating fresh, highly nutritious food that is free from additives and pesticides while simultaneously offering them a wide array of tastes and textures.

Here are a two simple items to help get you started:

1. Purchase a Beaba Babycook- Sure, you can use your own blender, an inexpensive food mill or a food processor but often times these items create more mess.  Using them requires pots for steaming, a strainer and more.  The Beaba Babycook, while an investment up front, saves time, space and money in the long run because it allows you to do it all with the one machine.

2.   Food Cubes- Making your own baby food means you can prepare a lot all at once  and then freeze it.  You can purchase large and small food cubes or use an ice cube tray to freeze the baby food for later consumption.

Once you have your system and supplies in place you can easily create many delicious foods that your baby will love.

Stokke Care Changes With Your Child

stokke-changing-table

When searching for just the right look  for your child’s nursery there are many points to consider- budget, space and style being the top three.  The Stokke Care is perfect for the parent who is looking for not just style but furniture that can go the distance with their child. The Care is a changing table that grows with your child.

At first glance it looks like any other changing table.  It has two levels that adjusts to fit any user.  Very handy, indeed.  It comes with two plastic storage containers that will easily fit all your baby care needs.  However, as your child grows and changes so does the Stokke Care.  It can be converted into a small desk, a larger desk and even a bookshelf, TV table, CD rack or combination of all three.  It’s quite an amazing piece of furniture and one that will continue to serve your child’s needs beyond the crib.

Break Tradition with a Round Crib

roundcrib

Round cribs are perfect for the parent who wants to be a little different and break tradition.  They are also great for small or awkward spaces.  They can be placed in middle of a room leaving more wall space for a dresser or changing table.  They also have two drop sides for easier access to baby.  Round cribs may appear smaller but they actually have more square footage than a standard crib.

Want an even more unique look?  Add an optional canopy.  It gives the crib an almost regal look, perfect for a little prince or princess!

Not only are round cribs unique and beautiful but they may actually be safer.  Little Miss Liberty, the primary manufacturer of round cribs, exceeds government safety standards.  The crib’s spindles are placed close together to remove the risk of entrapment and there are no sharp corners to injure baby.

They say babies can’t be spoiled, so go ahead and indulge them while they are little!

Pamper Your Baby with Natural Bath Products

We have recently come across a line of baby bath products called Nature’s Baby Organics that we love. The company was started by a mom after her daughter broke out in hives. She began researching many of the skincare products she was using in her home and found out many of them have ingredients that can be unsafe in certain conditions and can be irritating to sensitive skin. So she began researching chemicals and safer alternatives and after 2 years of research and testing launched Nature Baby Products.

Nature baby Products launched a line of Organic Bath and Skincare Products called Nature Baby Organics which has Bubble Bath, Shampoo & Body Wash, Diaper Cream, Deodorizer, Conditioner & Detangler, Face & Body Moisturizer, a Soothing Stick and Baby Oil.

All of the Products are Made with Natural Ingredients and are:

  • Made with 70-95% Organic Ingredients
  • Vegan
  • Paraben Free
  • Sulfate & Phthalate Free
  • Propylene Glycol Free
  • Synthetic Fragrance Free

The line has two wonderful scents: Vanilla Tangerine, Lavender Chamomile and also Fragrance Free.

I often buy Method’s Kids Body Wash or Burt’s Bees, but now Target is going to carry Nature’s Baby Products & Organics in stores across the country to see how they sell. If you want to buy the product find a Target that is carrying them near you at: www.naturesbabyproducts.com/target.html
or buy the products online at www.naturesbabyproducts.com
