Go Indie with Mod Cloth

A couple of days ago a friend introduced me to the wonders of ModCloth, and after going on a huge shopping binge, I can say that I’m firmly addicted now.  Basically they’ve taken all the best modern retro, vintage, indie, and bohemian looks, and combined them into one amazing online store.  After about five minutes of browsing around, you’ll know whether this is your sort of thing or not, as they hone in on a very specific set of looks.

I haven’t quite figured out how their stock works – they have pages and pages of clothes in each category, but it seems like there are limited numbers of each item, and once they’re gone, they’re gone.  So if you see something you can’t live without, don’t hesitate.  My favorite buy so far?  This “perfect pencil dress,” which lives up to its name with its mid 20th century faux-First-Lady look.  I’ll be spending a lot more money on these clothes, for sure.

Bravo Announces Real Housewives Clothing Line

New York? Atlanta? Orange County?

We already know some of the Real Housewives have their own clothing lines. But now, Bravo is coming out with an actual Real Housewives clothing line. Are you as confused as we are?

Well, allegedly the clothing line is going to consist of apparel inspired by the fashion and style of the Real Housewives. But aren’t the Real Housewives all incredibly different? Not only from city to city, but within each city as well.

According to the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Bravo Media, “Since launching Bravo Media, we have had incredible success with our brand extensions… We’re dedicated to providing high quality products to our passionate consumers, as well as opportunities for our viewers to experience our series beyond their TV screens. Royal Plush’s contemporary designs reflect the bold, stylish and fun personalities of our Real Housewives.” Well, bold, stylish, and fun does describe most of the housewives. Though some of them are more angry than anything. But we guess that wouldn’t translate well to clothing.

It’s said the line will consist of premium denim, loungewear, activewear, handbags, and accessories. And you won’t have to wait long as the Real Housewives inspired line is said to be coming out this fall!

We’re not sure how well the line will do though. It’s not even a celebrity clothing line; it’s more of a network clothing line.

Are you excited about a Real Housewives inspired line? Let us know in comments!

Have you heard about Mr. Larkin? One of the most talked about eco-friendly fashion labels

<span class=<span class=

Mr. Larkin, a San Francisco -based label that launched in October of 2008, is becoming one of the most talked about eco-friendly label..and I anticipate this is only the beginning. Mr. Larkin combines organic aesthetic with eco-friendly fabrics and fashion forward architectural shapes…a match made in heaven! Maria Menounos, Anne Hathaway have already falling in love with the label. Designer Casey Larkin’s faded pastels are died from vegetables found at local grocery stores and incorporate recycled finishings, such as 1930 metal paillattes. Her Spring 2009 collection includes sweaters made of soy, organic bamboo and cashmere like milk fiber. Overall the vibe of the label is vintage-meets-modern look. I am extremely excited with this line! Keep reading to see more pictures form the Spring 2009 Collection…it is worth it!

Vintage Pick Of the Day: Chic Crochet

s2

In the beloved animated classic, The Little Mermaid, Disney painted a far more idyllic picture of the undersea world than what is present in reality. Headlines scream the truth: “Oceans Becoming Too Acidic for Aquatic Life,” “Nation’s Marine Life Ravaged by Pollution,” “Coral Reefs Exposed to Imminent Destruction from Climate Change.”

It would be wise for us to remember the advice of Jean-Michel Cousteau, son of Jacques Cousteau: When we protect the oceans, we protect ourselves.

And that’s why I started Zuburbia Green Vintage. It seems pointless to save the beautiful garments of yesteryear without putting an equal amount of time and effort into saving our own planet from environmental destruction.

Now take a look at today’s VPOD. This lovely 1930s cotton sundress features a magical print that shows the oceans as they were made to be: teeming with beauty and color and life.

It’s a beautiful aquatic find for a vintage fashionista!

Available at eBay from Mill Street Vintage.
