Vintage Pick Of The Day: U is for Ungaro

Trina Turk launched her colorful fashion brand in 1995 and says there are no bad colors, just bad color combinations. And while so many women despair that they just don’t know how to put colors together, I believe you instinctively know what colors look good on you and which colors flatter you most. It’s all about trusting yourself more and worrying less.

Of course, you can always rely on the experts to help you out. Ease your suffering by choosing prints that pop by designers who know their way around color. For instance, today’s VPOD features an ultra-colorful and ultra-fabulous 1980s vintage silk skirt by Ungaro. With its high waist, side pockets, four buttons and wicked print, simply add a tee or blouse in black or white and you’ll be set to go.

It’s a chic and colorful find for a vintage fashionista!

Get Your Sparkle On! Crystal Inspired Handbags

faceted-gem-handbags

Crystals seem to be adorning and inspiring all types of accessories this season. We love how the natural iridescent element adds sparkle and added dimension to faceted and crystal embellished handbags.  Whether the handbag is embellished with actual crystals sewn onto exotic skins and leather or inlaid with faceted mother of pearl, crystal handbags reflect and sparkle in the sunlight. These unusual and eclectic crystal studded and faceted shape handbags (Roger Vivier) are a pretty summer accessory perfectly paired with white summer shift dresses and flat gold sandals.

My New BFF – Blabla Dolls

Blabla Dolls

Kids love these quirky and cute little character dolls from Blablakids.com.  And to be truthful … we love these little guys too!  Available in various sizes … even in a three foot size … yes, that's right three feet … all Blabla products are made from hand-picked cotton.

These soft dolls are perfect for kids starting at an early age and are sure to become a favorite doll.  Easy to take care of, the dolls can be washed on a gentle cycle or hand-washed in cold water and hung out to dry.  There are many, many little characters to choose from, so you will have to find which one is your fave … I mean your child's fave.  Blabla also makes backpacks, blankets, mobiles and kids clothing.  All products are safety tested by the most stringent US and European standards.  Our ZiggityZoom kids love these little characters and your kiddos will too.

I think one of these would brighten up any office or bedroom with some color, fun and a cuddly creature!

Entrench Yourself in Colorful Spring Trenchcoats

Trenchcoat

I've sung the praises of the trench coat before, and each spring I realize how much I love them. The weather is sunny, but just cold enough that a simple cardigan or blazer won't do. That's the perfect time to trot out a trench coat. And with the myriad of styles, you can have one that suits every occasion or you can have options for different moods and outfits. Try out looks that are long, cropped, long-sleeved, 3/4-sleeved, ones with belts, ones with buttons – and the list could go on. One of my favorite bits about spring trenches is that they can be bright and colorful.

Green is my favorite color, so of course this is my first choice. But the style is amazing, too, if you'd prefer to have it in a more versatile black and white.

I like this particular pink because it really pops, but a pastel will do nicely too, and add a more demure, feminine touch to an outfit.

Same goes for this great yellow option – which also comes in black and white. It's a bit bright, but not obnoxiously so. And yellow is such a great color for spring!

Spring Fantasy

Charlesdavid_platformsandal

I may be living in the midst of rain and fog, but that can't stop me fantasizing about glorious spring colors in all their vibrancy. I'm already dreaming up the outfits I'll wear when I go visit my sister in Boston in May. I just can't get bright colors and warmer weather out of my mind. Maybe I'm in denial.

But something that immediately caught my eye – and my imagination – this Charles by Charles David platform.

And for you more color conservative types out there, they do make it in black so you can still get an amazing shoe, but stick with a tried and true color. I, on the other hand, will take one in pink and one in orange, please! Even better than the awesome color selection and the amazing design of the shoe is the deal you can get! Originally around $100, we found it for as cheap as $30! So you CAN get it in multiple colors if you so choose!

True Colors

Pink tunics dresses

It's easy to slip into a uniform of blacks and greys when temps are lower and you're trying to bundle up for warmth. But it's time to put some color back into your wardrobe and even if you still need to layer, you shouldn't neglect the bright hues that are stepping into center stage for spring.

This Elizabeth and James dress is one of my favorites. Notice how it still looks stellar when put with black tights (or leggings) and it would be a great piece to wear with boots and a pea coat. The bright shock of pink is all you need!

If the pricetag may be a little steep for you, there are many other pink tunic dresses for you to choose from. Take this sweater tunic dress. It's a bit more fitted, but the fact that it's a sweater makes it handy for cooler temps, and it's just as easily layered. Remember – color is key!
