Social Media Throw Pillows

social-media-pillows

You could say I’m on top of the whole social media trend. With Twitter, Facebook, Myspace and other sites, I’m always in the know about what my friends are doing, the latest insider sales, and celeb gossip (sometimes right from the source!). My laptop and iPhone are littered with apps that are supposed to streamline my time on the Web sites, but sometimes I still get overwhelmed. Sure I get stressed when Britney doesn’t personally reply to my tweet or I consider unfriending someone on Facebook, but at the end of the day, these Web sites are just for fun and we shouldn’t forget the power of face-to-face interactions. So when I need to relax I think I’ll reach for a social media pillow straight from Etsy user Craftsquatch! I know what you’re thinking: a social media pillow? They’re super fun handmade pillows with the logos of your favorite Web sites and even applications– like Photoshop! So the next time Facebook stops loading or the Twitter fail whale shows up, go ahead and hug your throw pillow and think of the days when they didn’t exist… but be sure to update your status once it’s back up!

Awesome Animal Bowls & Cups by Adrienne Speer

We love Whimsy and these are the most whimsical bowls and cups to cheer up any little space in your house or apartment. Made by Adrienne Speer, these stoneware bowls and cups are crafted from white stoneware clay and glazed with a food-safe glaze. The bowl is just the right size to hold a small snack, or your kitchen sponge by the sink.

Choose the “go-anywhere” white or neutral colors that are primarily available in sage green or a soft mustard yellow. But don’t take our word for it, check out the other fun pieces, like the Puppy bowl or Fox bowl, on Adrienne’s Etsy shop. My personal favorite … hard to choose but I think I love the white bunny the best!

The cliché is true:  magnets (along with such gourmet delights as real butter and squeeze cheese) do make your life better.

Earth Day Fashion Tips

Etsy-screen-shot
Earth day is here, and more than ever, we need to think about what
we can each do to show a little love for Mother Earth and be a little
more gentle with how we think about consumption and disposal.

Here are a few ways you can stay fashionable and earth-friendly all
year long -some of these might be “duh!” but a little reminder every
now and then doesn’t hurt anybody:

1) Read the label-where is the product made, does it include any organic or recycled fibers? A great brand to check out: Alternative Apparel.

2) Support fledgling, eco-friendly brands and designers.

3) Shop  Etsy.com, shop vintage, and try to reduce your dry cleaning. Wash by hand, using products such a Woolite when possible.

4) Donate your too big/too small/never worn/wear too infrequently apparel items to resale shops; those in need will appreciate it more than your closet!

5) Fix clothes that may need a slight makeover, like getting shoes
resoled or those stiletto “tips” put on, instead of trashing them and
getting new items.
