Wii Games for Mom

wii-games-for-mom

The Nintendo Wii is truly a family entertainment game system.  While it’s fun to go bowling or shoot a round of golf with Hubby and the kids, there are a few “games” made especially for moms:

Daisy Fuentes Pilates- Cheaper than a series of Pilates classes in a gym with the comfort of never leaving home.

My Fitness Coach- Like having your very own personal trainer.

Ready Steady Cook- Learn how to cook real recipes by practicing virtually on the Wii console.

Dance Revolution- Ok, this one isn’t really marketed for moms but it’s fun and makes a great workout!  See if you can beat your kids in a dance-off!

Don’t let the kids have all the fun- schedule yourself some Wii time!

Get in Shape without Setting Foot in a Gym with Shape Ups

skeechers-exercise-shoes

Skechers Shape Ups are shoes that are designed to promote weight loss, tone muscles and improve posture while you walk.  They strengthen the back, tighten abdominal muscles and help firm up calf muscles and buttocks.  All of this can be achieved without ever setting foot inside a gym.  In addition to walking, there are some other exercises you can do to increase the Shape Ups performance.  Check out the YouTube video for more information including a tutorial.

Shape Ups come in several different styles including Mary Janes, tennis shoes, and a breathable summer style making them as inconspicuous as possible.  Fit your workout in while running errands and going about day-to-day activities.  Shape Ups take Mom’s multi-tasking to a whole new level!

Summer Travel: Don’t Leave your Workout Behind

I cannot go a day  without working out. When I travel, the ability to continue my exercise regimen is a must. I look for hotels with excellent fitness centers, or scope out a place where I can use my current gym membership. In case either of these are not practical my fall-back routine is to take a short run. The unfortunate part about this is that I prefer to travel light, and running shoes take up alot of space in a tiny suitcase. Fortunately I discovered “collapsible” running shoes.

These aren’t shoes you’d want to make your primary work-out wear because they lack the structured support of most running shoes, but they work well for traveling. These types of shoes are typically comprised of a fairly flexible sole and some sort of mesh body which can collapse in your luggage.
