The Best of Aerosoles for Fall 2013

aerosoles fall 2013

I admire crazy high heeled shoes or platforms and sometimes wear them, however the heels that provide the greatest comfort get the most mileage when it comes to life in NYC.  Therefore, I’m glad to not only be an ambassador for Aerosoles, getting to wear the latest styles, but also to see in advance what the brand has in store for the coming months.

Along with fashion forward silhouettes in heels, wedges, flats, and boots, Aerosoles will launch a new line called AerGO by Aerosoles, which brings EVA soles, which offer extra padding, comfort, and flexibility in the bottoms to styles such as a desert boots and oxfords with contrasting sole colors. To compare how it may be different for the brand, it’s like the collab between Nike and Cole Haan to infuse dress shoes with the comfort of the sneaker. Sounds good? We thought so too, and the price point is just right – $79!

Also available are a plethora of boots to get you through the colder months, with styles ranging from equestrian to motorcycle, along with cap toe ballet flats and heels for every occasion.

Go here to Fashion Pulse Daily for our favorite footwear from Aerosoles for fall- which one(s) do you love?

Trend Transition Piece: Tweed Blazers!

  • posted February 27th, 2013
  • Fashion

I’m all about blazers of all kinds – they’re incredibly versatile, whether they’re serving as the main focus of your outfit, or a last-minute throw-on-and-go addition. They can make almost anything – from jeans and a simple tee to a slinky dress – look polished and sophisticated. However, in these chilly pre-spring months, our favorite blazers aren’t quite warm enough to work as our only guard against the cold, yet piling on a heavy winter coat on top of our blazers seems like overkill. Luckily, the latest tweed blazers are cropping up to save us from this awkward in-between-seasons weather, adding a bit more substance and warmth to the traditionally lightweight jacket. Whether bold and textured or more subtle wool styles (and don’t forget on-trend leather details!), I have a serious need for tweed this spring!

For Him (and Her): Toiletries on the Go

With the holidays JUST around the corner, AGAIN (can you believe it?!) most of us will have to pack our belongings and head for the highway or skyway to visit our loved ones during the busiest travel times of the year. Yikes. I normally don’t even go home for Thanksgiving so that I can spare my energy and patience for the traffic juggernaut which inevitably come on the weekend before Christmas this year. BUT, since travel is a must, how about a kit for him, and one for her, that will make moving around for the holiday much simpler?

Let’s start with For Him: The Art of Shaving’s The 4 Elements of the Perfect Shave new Mid-Size Kit brings all that he needs for grooming (Pre-Shave Oil (1oz), Shaving Cream (1.5oz), Genuine Badger Hair Shaving Brush, and After-Shave Balm (1oz)) in a perfectly-sized kit that works for carry-on bags or can easily and safely be stashed in a duffle and tossed into the car.   Available in the brand’s classic scents of Sandalwood, Unscented, Lavender, and Lemon, this also makes a great gift for the men in your life or a nice, surprise, stocking suffer (retail for $60).

For Her: The Caboodles of our youth gets a professional upgrade, which takes shape in the form of the Caboodles Artiste ($79.99, Ulta). Toss in your most necessary hair products, styling tools, makeup, nail polishes, and even jewelry to easily transport, and set up your items once you reach your destination. The Artiste easily opens up and cascades out to stylishly and clearly display all that you’ve got, so that you can quickly get ready and squeeze in some quality family time, before you must hit the road and head back.

Go Prep School Chic in a Sleek Plaid Blazer

Bold, bright patterns have been having a serious style moment in the past year or so – some of which we had never even seen before this whole print craze hit the fashion jackpot – and they’ve been serving as a fun, vibrant way to spice up all those monochromatic, cozy basics we collected from last fall and winter. From newly rejuvenated prints like southwest-inspired patterns and tapestry to timeless trends like plaid, paisley, and polka dots, it’s fun to see our favorite seasonal staples steer away from solids and get the printed treatment. As a pattern, tartan/plaid has the power to conjure up a variety of style scenarios and fashion fads, from Scottish kilts to glam rock and of course, private school uniforms, and we’re calling inspiration from the latter to add a fun preppy vibe to our fall look. A nice tailored plaid blazer looks sophisticated without verging on boring, adding a dash of Gossip Girl-esque charm to any work ensemble or casual outfit. Pair with a silky blouse, skinny slacks and sensible pumps for 9-5, then switch to coated jeans, a muscle tank, and chunky moto booties to complete the perfect edgy (yet still perfectly put-together) after-hours ensemble.

Handbags Get Wilder Thanks To Tiger Print!

Move over, leopard – there’s a new king of the fashion jungle! Tiger prints are slowly but surely sneaking their way back into the world of acceptable stylish animal prints, after a couple decades of being banished to the land of tacky fads. Leopard print has surely made its comeback in recent years, and tiger print is destined to do the same! Not convinced enough to splurge on a head-to-toe striped ensemble? Start relatively smaller with a statement-making tiger print bag. From compact clutches to full-size shopper totes, plus luxe printed calf-hair textures, plenty of our favorite designers are walking on the wild side with tiger-printed accessories!

The Surf Sock Just Got a Serious Upgrade: The Powerdrain by Columbia

What is it about “water shoes”, or “surf socks” that makes them so uncool? For starters, the monikers aren’t the most appealing, and secondly, they are largely worn out of context, as in out and about, where there is no surf or sand to be found. The Powerdrain, by Columbia subscribes to the same principle, but is actually designed to seamlessly blend in more places than just into the water.  The ultra-lightweight shoe provides a sneaker aesthetic appeal, and performs well submersed thanks to extra traction via the Columbia‘s Omni-Grip™ wet grip rubber,  drainage ports in the heel and forefoot, as well as a fully drainable footbed. The only question now is what weekend will you book a getaway to a year round locale, with testing out these shoes as your impetus?

The Columbia Powerdrain is available at Columbia.com and select retailers starting February 1st, 2012.

Jack These Jackets! Runway to Real Way Fall/Winter 2011

[Topshop Leather Collar Wool Boyfriend Coat $340, Celine Image via Style.com]

What makes a great jacket? I found myself really asking this after we experienced a blustery blast of cold weather mixed in with some early fall flurries.

Runway presentations make the most of women’s outerwear in all colors from neutral to bright with fantastic detailing or subtle minimalism. However, when it comes down to it, a jacket needs to be functional. Maybe you demand a hood, large pockets, or a full-length zipper. Regardless of such basics, I am not willing to sacrifice style, and I doubt our readers are either.

This is why I’ve compiled my favorite “Runway to Real Way Jackets.” While extremely trendy, these jackets are still practical. There’s nothing unrealistic about incorporating any one of these into your wardrobe.

1. The Bright Jacket

Brighter shades have been popping up everywhere recently. Despite the opposing forces, bright hues work well for a fall/winter trench coat. Tip: Ground the rest of your outfit in black or other neutrals.

[Topshop Glossy Faux Fur Bomber Jacket $170Alexander Wang Image viaStyle.com]

2. The Fur Bomber

Fur bombers are classic and luxe simultaneously. Again, fur took over the runways, seen everywhere from Alexander Wang to Rachel Zoe. You’ll be sure to turn heads in a glossy piece like this, but if you’re trying to be more subtle, try a faux-fur collar for starters.

[NastyGal Darcy Drape Jacket $78Burberry Prorsum Image via Style.com]

3. The Camel Coat

Has this look ever done us wrong? I love both belted ones accentuating the waist, but I especially adore the robe-like vibe of NastyGal’s drape jacket (pictured above). Normally a structured trench, camel will always be timeless, regardless of what form it takes. It’s a celebrity must, a runway favorite, and an every day woman’s go-to. Tip: Pick the shade that best works with your skin tone.

[Topshop Collarless Boucle Blazer Jacket $140,Chanel Image via Style.com]

4. The Tweed

Chanel has always done tweed right. Now, it’s our turn to channel Karl Lagerfeld’s feminine vision and prove tweed is anything but stuffy. Topshop’s blue version of the fabrication is fun and funky, but boxy jackets like these are all about playing with proportion. Wear it open with jeans or alone with a skirt; just remember to keep everything sleek.

[Urban Outfitters Vasia by Ulla Johnson Camilla Vest $99.99,Tess GibersonImage via Style.com]

5. The Fur Vest

It’s still crazy cool, and I couldn’t be happier! I wasn’t ready to give up my fur vest just yet. Part edgy, part glam, this piece is all about attitude. Brown, black, white, grey, beige, it won’t be hard to find a vest you’ll love. Tip: Fur vests can add bulk if done incorrectly. Be aware of proper fit, watching for armhole size.

[Land’s End Women’s Essential Down Jacket $69.65DKNY Image viaStyle.com]

6. The Puffer

Perhaps the most basic, but also the warmest, a puffy jacket is a winter must-have. DKNY reminds us that style and functionality can easily coexist. I LOVE the bright cherry red and quilted looks, (and especially love anything down-filled). This look will keep you warm and safe; no need to fear the elements in this one!

All that’s left to do is to pick your favorite, and  stay warm!
