Behind The Makeup: Vera Wang Spring 2010 Show

lucia 1lucia 2lucia 3

Lucia Pieroni, Color Creator for Clé de Peau Beauté, created her own approach to Vera Wang’s Spring 2010 show by developing a boy-like, simple face to each model walking down the runway. The look catered to the collection clothing and bold jewelry.

“I wanted the models to appear cool and very natural, so I created a super sheer base on the face with eye accents only, of taupe and silver.” Lucia says. “I wanted them to look healthy, but a bit supernatural.”

For the face: Lucia began with NEW! Luminizing Enhancer Base ($42) to even out skin tone and create a luminous complexion. Next, she used the Refining Fluid Foundation ($118) for an even, flawless, and radiant finish.

For the brows: Eyebrow pencil in #104/Grey for a fuller and more clean look ($55)

For the eyes: To brighten eyes, Lucia used NEW! Satin Eye Color in #11/Silver ($45), with a touch of #111/taupe to the outer corners for added definition. She also utilized Satin Eye Color in #104/Golden to highlight brow bone and to the top of the cheek to add ethereal glow.

For the lips: Lastly, Lucia used NEW! Extra Rich Lipstick in T4 ($65), a nude shade inspired by tea roses to compliment the face without drawing attention.

Lucia uses products to enhance rather than to conceal and creates breathtaking images, with a 21st century twist! She is well-known in Britain and a favorite amongst renowned photographers such as Glen Luchford, Paola Reversi, Craig McDean, and David Sims. Her talents has shined in several top fashion magazines which solidifies her as one of the premier makeup artist in the world. She became the creator for Clé de Peau Beauté in 2005.

The NEW Clé de Peau Beauté Spring 2010 collection will launch March 2010 at Bergdorf Goodman and select Barney’s, Neiman Marcus and Saks locations nationwide.

Norma Kamali: The Democracy of Fashion #NYFW

normakamali-presentation

It was the last day of fashion week, with the exhaustion and burnout from the last eight days already taking a toll on me, but there was no way I would skip Norma Kamali’s fashion week presentation! It was done in two parts — the first part was a 25 minute presentation at the Apple Store in SoHo, in which Kamali explained and demo’ed some of the innovations she’s incorporated into her business, from the “try before you buy” model with customers now using Skype, the Roiworld game, the more on-trend ebay-exlusive collection,  to the Norma Kamali iPhone application where one can fashion an outfit and then buy the actual items at walmat.com. Normal Kamali has always been way way ahead of the curve, and is so modest that I don’t think a lot of fashion devotees even know to attribute her with many of her amazing contributions to fashion.

I give her so much credit for designing in her own style and executing the Wal-Mart collection, which now includes a $24 all in one dress, and she announced that for winter a $35 sleeping bag coat is on the way. The invite to the event was titled “the democracy of fashion” and in Kamali’s case, this really does ring true in everything that she does, from make really good fashion affordable for all, to her re-appropriating of materials such as paracutes, sleeping bags, and jersey fabrics into fantastical yet functional new creations. The second part of the presentation involved a lineup from Kamali’s new collection for ebay, her OMO (on my own) collection found in her store, and the Wal-Mart collection. Most of the collections were interspersed, and the only distinguishing factor to tell which was which was the signs the models were holding. Despite the rain and the last day of fashion week mayhem, Norma Kamali is always worth paying attention to, because what she’s doing now, will eventually set the pace for many other designers to follow in the near future.

Good Clothes and Good Causes, Part II

By Carlina Harris

Santana row 1

When we parted ways last week, I was to attend a fabulous fashion show in Santana Row, and fabulous it was! As you can see from the picture above the setting was immaculate, elegant and chic! I had a desirable second row seat, and loved being up close to the action.

Upon entering the coveted roped off area, my date and I enjoyed a beverage provided by Vintage Wine Merchants. I could see the seething glare of the Real Housewives of Santana Row, behind their Gucci shades, wondering where their invite to this exclusive party was. The atmosphere was humming, the pseudo red carpet for paparazzi pictures was packed, the line for the hors d’oeuvres was long, and the beverage table boasted dozens of empty wine bottles, everyone was in good spirits!

Good Clothes and Good Causes: Santana Row’s 5th Annual Fall Fashion in the Park

By Carlina Harris

Hey Dolls!  Remember last week when I was complaining of a fashion show-less fashion week? It seems the stylish ones heard my prayers rantings. This Friday, I am attending the oh so chic, Santana Row’s 5th Annual Fall Fashion in the Park Runway Show, in San Jose, Ca. This event has been talked about for months now, and I feel so privileged to be attending!  It will be fabulous, and best of all will be benefiting one of four South Bay non-profit organizations! Good clothes and good causes, what more could a trend crazed dame ask for?

There are two shows both Friday and Saturday, and tickets are still available from what I hear. Not only do you get to see what will be major for fall fashion at the show, also included in your ticket: is a pre-show wine and hors d’oeuvres reception, private shopping boutique (to pick up all those amazing looks), and a post show soirée!

I love that the models will be wearing all Santana Row fashions, including: Anthropologie, Cole Haan, Furla and Blue Jeans Bar to name a few.  7PM: I watch the models strut fab moda. 8PM: I buy and strut my new fab moda! Style that is locally accessible, and relatively inexpensive is my kind of show stopping fashion!

I of course will be doing full show coverage of what I see, and who I see on Friday just for you! So expect a full update next week.  As I pack up my Louboutins, and black fashion week garb, my little vogued out heart is pitter pattering with anticipation…..
