 – Camera: Although some grandparents might have kept up with emerging technologies, others may still be inexperienced with the new high tech gadgets. Digital cameras now have advanced features, but the Canon PowerShot A1400, is a simpler digital device that all grandparents can easily utilize. It has automatic settings for photo or video capturing and runs on two AA batteries.

– Speakerphone: Created for safety, the Jabra Drive is a speakerphone that is extremely convenient for answering phone calls while driving. It is a great gift for grandparents, not only for in vehicles, but anywhere in general. The set up is ridiculously easy and can connect to two cellular phones by simply pushing one big button.

– Digital Picture Frame: Grandparents often miss out on big events, especially ones that require much traveling. The Pic-Star FotoConnect XD Digital Picture Frame makes an excellent gift for grandparents who are unable to attend events or live long distance because anyone in the family can connect directly to the frame via email. Simply email your photos to the frame and they will appear in a slideshow on the screen.  It is a great way to keep your grandparents updated on your life!

Trim the Tree with Beauty Goodies Courtesy Sephora’s New Nail Polish

I’ll admit I was a little disappointed when I heard that Sephora was discontinuing their Sephora by OPI line of nail polishes – I had collected quite a stash of shades over the past several years – but when I saw the makeup megastore’s new line of lacquers, I was whistling a totally different tune. Formula X is definitely a step above their previous nail polish collaboration, with a series of fingertip toppers that focuses on bold, glossy finishes, opalescent metallics, and every kind of textured glitter you could possibly imagine. And just in time for the holidays, Sephora is making it even more fun to try out their new glitzy lacquers, thanks to a holiday ornament that’s perfect for gifting, stocking-stuffing, and even gilding your own tree at home. The polish inside is a glittery gold foil that’s perfect for sprucing up your existing manicure and instantly making it cocktail party appropriate! Maybe it’s jus the beauty addict/shopaholic in me talking, but somehow a Christmas tree is even more beautiful when it’s decked out in makeup goods, am I right?

Estee Lauder Looks to the Stars for Holiday Beauty Inspiration

  • posted November 17th, 2013
  • Beauty

I admittedly flip through to the final pages of a magazine to check out my monthly horoscope (hey, why not?), though I don’t exactly seek the planets’ advice when it comes to making major life decisions. That said, astrology’s influence on the latest fashion and beauty trends is undeniable – from Charlotte Olympia’s whimsical smoking flats to Valentino’s Spring 2014 accessories, and beyond. Beauty brand Estee Lauder isn’t one to let a major trend pass it by, so just in time for the Holiday 2013 gifting season, they’ve unveiled a new limited edition version of their Zodiac Powder Compacts. Redone in matte gold with rhinestone detailing, these sleek, astrology-inspired compacts house the brand’s Lucidity Translucent Pressed Powder and are refillable, so you’ll be sure to get plenty of use out of it! Each collectible compact will set you back $50 apiece, which is a small price to pay for something that makes mid-day touch-ups infinitely more glamorous.

All I Want For Christmas is Mariah Carey’s New Holiday Collection for OPI!

  • posted November 5th, 2013

Sorry, I couldn’t resist the post title. But It’s been almost two decades since the release of Mariah Carey’s first Christmas album, and few holiday albums since then have managed to evoke the same amount of seasonal cheer. You can’t deny it – Mariah definitely has the whole Christmas spirit thing under her Mrs. Claus belt, so it seems only fitting that she’d put her recent partnership with OPI to good use with another aptly-timed nail polish collection! The 18-shade Holiday 2013 collection is heavy on the red shades (though that’s hardly surprising), with some frosty, snow-inspired tones and of course, plenty of glitter. Mariah’s first collaboration line of polishes featured the debut of OPI’s Liquid Sand shades – gritty yet shimmery, ultra-fine glitter formulas – and this time, Mariah is unveiling six more limited-edition Liquid Sands, just in time for stocking-stuffing season! Not glitzy enough for you? Don’t fret – the holiday capsule collection also includes a top coat made out of genuine 18k white gold leaf, which is bound to put you right in cocktail party mood!

Glam Holiday Gifting: Winks by Georgie Lash Compacts

  • posted December 8th, 2012

As a self-diagnosed lash addict, I’m surprised that I’ve only just recently discovered Winks by Georgie, a line of luxury lashes from sister duo Megan Allen and Abbey Watt. Well, better late than never, and there’s no better time than the holiday season to expand my beauty brand knowledge and maximize my gift-giving experience! To be honest, I usually try to stick to the cheapest drugstore brands when it comes to my own false lash looks (sadly I don’t take good enough care of my falsies to allow myself to splurge), but I’m frequently tempted by more expensive brand’s adorable packaging and more unique lash designs. Needless to say, Georgie’s new lash compacts have my inner shopaholic raging! A series of plush lashes, each housed in their own adorable themed compact (glue included), makes it easy to take your falsies with you and apply on the go, and makes it easy for you to keep them safe and un-squished between wears. Plus, these lashes (and their accompanying compacts) are eco-friendly! At only $28, they make the cutest stocking stuffer for any fellow beauty addict!

Shopping For the Man In Your Life: Affordably Luxe Gifts From Fossil

Try as you might to deny it, it’s about that time of year when it becomes a wise idea to kick-start your holiday shopping. Whether you’re really ambitious and want to cross all the names of your list by Thanksgiving (and maybe save Black Friday shopping for your own treats), or just want to make a sizable dent on all those gifts before it gets too late, trust me – you’ll be glad you started early! And in my own experience, men can be some of the toughest people to shop for (or rather, the easiest gifts to over think), so why not get started on the special men in your life – boyfriend/husband, brother, friend, dad, grandfather, uncle, etc. And what’s one thing they likely all have in common? They could probably use an upgrade to their accessories collection – and they don’t even know it – and Fossil is the perfect place to shop for manly digs that’ll help them clean up just a little bit nicer, but won’t make your shopping budget explode. Leather goods (wallets, work bags, etc.) are things almost every guy uses – whether he’s into style or not – but hates to shop for, so do your man a favor by picking something nice that will actually last. Is Uncle Joe always late to family get-togethers? Drop him a hint by gifting one of Fossil’s best-selling watches, like the Machine Leather Watch, which is sturdy and masculine but still stylish. And if you can’t get your boyfriend to wear anything but his fading vintage tees and worn-down sneakers that have definitely seen better days, upgrade his casual look with a solid pair of lace-up boots for the winter ahead, and a casual plaid button-down shirt that’s comfy without verging on sloppy.

Browse the rest of the male-approved gifts in Fossil’s men’s section!

Supermodel Sasha Pivovarova Lends Her Sketching Talents to GAP Body!

Beauty, style, an eye for art — some girls just have all the talent, don’t they? But it’s hard to hate Russian supermodel Sasha Pivovarova when her most recently-tapped talent translates to super-cute skivvies for us shoppers! Best known for her piercing looks and frequent appearances on designer runways far and wide, the supermodel also happens to be quite the sketcher and spends much of her backstage and off-the-runway time channeling her inner Picasso. Now her extraordinary side hobby, along with her fashion know-how, has inspired her own capsule collection for GAP Body. The collection, which has just begun rolling out pieces in stores and online, includes satin bralettes, “girl shorts,” and more modest lingerie pieces like camis, and all feature Sasha’s hand-drawn sketches. Aside from being cute, quirky, and unique, these pieces are also a bargain, with undergarments starting at just $19.95! If you aren’t a sucker for affordable designer collabos yourself, they also make the perfect gift for the girl who loves cozy and cute lingerie! If you like what you see so far, be sure to watch out for more pieces that will be gradually released through the new year!

Trim The Tree With Festive Beauty Ornaments!

  • Beauty

‘Tis the season to spread holiday cheer… and for a bona-fide beauty addict, what could possibly be more cheerful than ornaments filled with beauty goodies?! This season’s most gorgeous makeup and beauty gifts come packaged in a super-adorable fashion – nested right inside ornament capsules, or adorned with ribbon – so you deck the halls and trim the tree with darling beauty gifts, for you and your fellow makeup mavens! Of course, these will hardly be keepsake decorations that you can pass along for generations to come, but it is a pretty sweet idea if you’re still looking for the perfect gifts for the beauty junkies on your list! Some of my favorites are the MAC Dazzlespheres, which encase some of the brand’s best-selling seasonal items like Dazzleglass and Cremesheen Lipglasses, shimmery pigments, or limited edition nail lacquers. And for the skincare-obsessed ladies on your list, look no further than Philosophy’s sweet ornament gifts, which house some of the brand’s must-haves like Purity One-Step Facial Cleanser and Hope in a Jar!
