Golden Globes/Sally Hansen

It’s no secret that awards show have the stars done up from head to toe.  The 70th annual Golden Globes was no different.  From the tops of their coiffed heads to their designer shoes they all looked their best.  Sally Hansen made nails the ultimate accessory with her Complete Salon Manicure all-in-one formula.

Combining all seven benefits of a professional salon manicure (base coat, strengthener, growth treatment, gorgeous color and a chip resistance with a gel-like shine) Sally Hansen offers a multi-tasking polish seen on the worlds biggest stars.   April Foreman was behind Jennifer Lawrence’s “squond” shaped tips.  Using two coats of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in ‘Sheer Ecstasy’ for her red carpet look.  Naomi Watts (nominated for Best Performance by an Actress-Drama)  shined due in part to nail expert Tracey Sutter using Sally Hansen’s ‘Arm Candy’ to create a soft but stunning natural manicure. Crooner Adele was given a striking metallic look by celebrity manicurist Kimmie Kyees with a dual toned, layered approach.  Using two coats of So Much Fawn and Complete Salon Manicure Copper Penny it showed gold like the Golden Globe she took home for Best Original Song.

Sally Hansen Complete Manicure colors are available with all Sally Hansen nail products in Target, Walmart and drugstores nationwide.

If you caught any of the red carpet fashion coverage of the 70th Annual Golden Globes, chances are you caught a glimpse of stunning Smash star Katharine McPhee in her bold, cleavage-baring black gown. And while she popped up on many a Best Dressed list, her look was surprisingly lower-maintenance than the rest of Hollywood’s elite! In fact, you can own the very same Theyskens’ Theory dress McPhee rocked on the red carpet, once the designer’s newest collection hits stores this February! The Deilidh Column Dress is available for preorder now at for the (relatively) reasonable price of $795. Red Carpet Worthy Skin with Ole Henricksen Power Peel

Hollywood’s A-list celebs are busy spending their days getting red carpet ready for the upcoming Golden Globes.  While many like Charlize Theron are dashing off to the Ole Henricksen Face/Body Spa to get glowing skin we non-celebs can get the same benefits of the Ole Henricksen spa Power Peel right at home.

The Ole Henricksen Power Peel, is a simple three-step version both created to gradually reduce fine lines, wrinkles, facial scars and skin discoloration.  It’s like getting a spa grade facial right in your own bathroom!  It works just like microdermabrasion and a peel and can really smooth your skins texture.  rid you of hyperpigmentation brown spots and damage caused by exposure to the sun.  What remains is brighter skin with a more even skin tone that looks radiant, even after just one use. Step one is the almond polish made from an almond paste, honey and bamboo stem powder that exfoliates skin.  Step two uses algae extract, licorice and lactic and glycolic acids in a lemon peel to refine the skin.  The final step, step three soothes and calms skin with a mixture of jojoba seed oil, chamomile and evening primrose oil.  In minutes you too can have gorgeous, glowing skin.

The POWER|peelTM is a potent, 3-step professional grade facial treatment that emulates both a microdermabrasion and peel service to revel a radiant, more youthful complexion after just one use. It reduces wrinkles, smoothes skin texture and reverses hyperpigmentation and sun damage for brighter, more even skin tone at home.

How To Look Like a Film Icon

In honor of the Golden Globe Awards yesterday, I decided to give a list of my top 3 favorite film looks. Read on and see how you too can look like a movie icon!

1.  Breakfast at Tiffany’s

It should be no surprise this one is on the list. The image of Audrey Hepburn’s character Holly Golightly in her black Givenchy sheath staring into the window of Tiffany’s is burned into almost every fashionista’s brain. Her elegant look, however, is really rather attainable. It starts with a little black dress and once you add a pearl necklace, black gloves, and some oversized sunglasses, you too can have the look.

Here’s my picks:

Pearl and Gem necklace from Chic Gems (which you can get 20% off on with code VIOLET20…woo hoo!), Black Pumps from Lori’s ShoesDior Sunglasses from Solstice, Long Black Gloves fromPeaches Boutique, and Black Scoop-Neck Dress from Perchance Boutique.

2. The Notebook

I’m a huge fan of vintage looks! The Notebook wouldn’t have been the same without the beautifulfashions of the 1940s and 1950s. Rachel McAdam’s character Allie has impeccable fashion. Her look is a mix of  fitted vintage gowns with shorter hem lines, floral hair accessories, and understated shoes. In terms of color, her character is often seen in either light blue or crimson.

Here’s my picks:

Red Flats from Akira, Floral Hair Accessories from Love, Lulu Mae, Assorted Casual Dresses from She Boutique, Red Scoop Neck Dress from Mark Shale.

Golden Globes 2011 Best-Dressed: Lea Michele, Sandra Bullock, Olivia Wilde

  • posted January 17th, 2011

While we’re always thrilled to see who wins what at the Golden Globes, I’m even more excited for the glamorous fashion. Last night’s red carpet looks didn’t disappoint. The dresses were more demure with less glitz than I expected, but there were so many fabulous looks to swoon after.<

We spotted several trends during last night’s Golden Globe Awards. The biggest ones that caught my eye? Lots of nude and emerald green dresses. There was a lot less glitter than I expected; and I’m hoping that doesn’t mean the sparkle trend is over!

My favorite look of the evening? I was drooling over Lea Michele’s subdued pink Oscar de la Renta because it was full of excitement with its ruffles and layers. Also pleasantly surprised by Eva Longoria’s black Zac Posen dress. That girl is totally showing the world she doesn’t need Tony Parker in her life! I wasn’t obsessed with Natalie Portman’s pale pink Viktor and Rolf dress, but she looked amazing in it and I loved that it showed off her baby bump a bit.

Back to the nude, I really loved Sandra Bullock’s Jenny Packham dress that have a little sparkle, too. She was also rocking bangs and while some argued she was looking “haggard,” I thought she was simply subdued and glamorous.

I’m not a huge fan of emerald green evening gowns unless they’re for the holidays, but a number of stars were wearing them last night, including Angelina Jolie in a Versace and Catherine Zeta Jones in Monique Lhuillier. Mila Kunis also went green in a Vera Wang. I wish these three had stood next to each other for a photo! Emerald green may not be my favorite color, but all three ladies looked stunning.

A couple of the ladies did bring the sparkle and one of my favorites was Olivia Wilde who wore a glimmery black Marchesa dress. The dress was big and poufy, but the best part might have been what was underneath, a pair of gold Christian Louboutin heels! But she joked that she was hiding both Justin Bieber and Robert Pattinson under her dress! Carrie Underwood also looked beautiful in her sparkly nude Badgley Mischka.

Who do you think wore the most beautiful dress of the evening? While I don’t like to focus on the negative, I definitely think Leighton Meester, Scarlett Johansson, and Helena Bonham Carter made the worst-dressed list.

Top 10 Golden Globes Dresses

With Joan Rivers returning to E! Fashion Police, there’s enough bitchiness to go around, and thus in the name of good karma, I’m only going to focus on the dresses I liked at this year’s award shows. (In other words, if you don’t have something nice to say…) Cathy Horyn might have complained about how uninspired this year’s choices were–and I agree on one hand, although I feel like ever since stylists got involved, that’s the general direction things have been moving–but I found plenty to like. Here are my favorites, in no particular order.

Emily Blunt
There were a lot of nude dresses this year, to varying degrees of success, but I thought Ms. Blunt’s Dolce & Gabbana dress was the best–there’s enough draping to create movement, and the trumpet hem is not too out of control. Having a cute date also helps.
