Welcome to the Hotel Missoni

Missoni Hotel in Edinburgh-2b
The Ritz is where I will retire myself when I am old and gray and wish to spend my twilight years in quiet luxury. That said, at this moment I’m young and I want to stay at the loud, overstated Missoni Hotel in Edinburgh,UK and have a good time. The first of a proposed chain of hotels, the six-story building is dressed head-to-toe in signature Missoni patterns and bold colors. The hotel also brings in the design sensibility of Marcel Sandes, Eero Saarinen, Arne Jacobson and Hans Wegner. Rooms start at $355 a night.(via Cyana.Trend.Land).

Fashionistas and Design Enthusiasts Love Ireland’s g Hotel

ghotel

To call Philip Treacy just a milliner is a severe understatement. While he is best known for his award winning hat designs and for his collaborations with Alexander McQueen and Chanel, did you know he’s also the Design Director for the g Hotel in Galway, Ireland? It’s no surprise that his whimsical hat designs have translated into hotel design as well. From the bubblegum Pink Lounge to seashell decorated rooms, Philip explains his designs as “hats people love to wear. With the g, I have created a place where people will love to be.” The g has 101 rooms including the Evangelista Suite (where you can not “wake up for less than $10,000 a day”). All rooms have Treacy-designed Frette linens and even butler service! Take a look at my slideshow to see what living the avant garde life would be like at the g Hotel.

Experience the Best of Minimalism and Luxury at London’s Rough Luxe!

roughluxehotel
Whenever I travel, I’m either looking for a simple and cheap place to sleep for a night or an all out luxurious experience in a beautiful suite. Rough Luxe in London can be described as somewhere in the middle. Located in the up-and-coming King’s Cross, Rough Luxe calls themselves as “A little bit of luxury in a rough part of London. A little bit of rough in a luxurious London.” and they couldn’t have said it better. The small and intimate hotel may only have 9 rooms (and just 3 have private bathrooms) and the chipped paint and stripped walls may seem a little dingy, but it certainly adds to the artsy starving artist vibe. Looks aside, the service makes up for everything. The manager Leo and his dog Spud make their guests feel right at home with dinner recommendations, a tour of their gallery and evening drinks with other guests. So if you’re looking for something in between a student hostel and the Four Seasons, consider staying at the Rough Luxe Hotel the next time you’re in London. Take a peek at my slideshow to see more!
