Pucker Up With a Watermelon Lip Gloss

Nothing says summer like a cool slice of watermelon, so take a cue from the season’s most refreshing snack and incorporate the juicy hue into your beauty routine! Watermelon lips are perfectly fun for summer because the color is luscious and eye-catching, but not quite as bold or expected as the classic red lip. Rosy, shiny, sheer, and never heavy, watermelon hues are gorgeous in any form – whether your prefer a sheer balm like this NP Lip Gloss Compact in Nisi, or an ultra-shiny gloss like Hourglass’ Extreme Sheen Lip Gloss in Nectar or Smashbox Reflection High Shine Lip Gloss in Watermelon. Soften and moisturize while you beautify with Cargo’s Classic Lip Gloss in Cyprus, infused with Vitamin E and antioxidants, or get a mouth-watering hint of flavor with Maybelline ShineSensational Lip Gloss in Watermelon Punch! The best part is, this multi-flattering shade also happens to be multi-seasonal, so you won’t have to retire these glosses once summer hangs its hat!

DuWop Private Lipstick Collection Provides Your Perfect Personal Shade!

Unless you’re one of those ridiculously lucky gals who can pull off basically any shade of lipstick flawlessly, you’ve likely experienced what a pain it can be to find your perfect lip color. Sure, you see the various trend reports with every passing season that claim to help you find the perfect red, pink, coral, or purple lipstick to suit your specific skin tone and hair color, but despite the helpful hints, you inevitably end up holing up at Sephora for a good two hours before finally leaving with a hand full of lipstick test marks and a shade you’re hardly enthusiastic about. Well, you can officially thank the geniuses at DuWop for making a bold attempt at shortening your search for the perfect lip color! Best known for their fan-favorite Lip Venoms, which has helped the non-Angelina Jolies of the world get their own attempt at bee-stung lips, DuWop is making waves again with their Private Lipstick Collection. This innovative new series of shades – ranging from perky pink to deep burgundy – incorporates three different kinds of natural pigments (annatto, hibiscus, and henna) to create a color-changing formula that morphs into your most suitable, flattering version of the shade within five minutes after applying to your lips. I’ve yet to test these lipsticks out myself, but any shade that claims to be smart enough to find my perfect shade for me and spare me the search is worth a try in my book!

5 Glossy Pencils For The Boldest, Shiniest Smoocher!

As if I needed something new to obsess over, I’ve recently developed a big appreciation for glossy lip pencils. There’s something so unexpected, fun, and surprising about applying using a pencil and getting rich, shiny, glossy color rather than the waxy finish you’d normally expect from a pencil. Sure, they might not be quite as practical when it comes to actually needing to sharpen these bad boys (glossy color all over your sharpener, plus too much precious product wasted!), but they’re still fun to collect and use when they’re not making a mess out of your beauty tools! In celebration of these fun lip colors, I’ve rounded up a few celebrated favorites that pack a three-in-one punch: rich, saturated, lipstick-quality color, high-shine gloss, with the application precision of a pencil. Whether you prefer your lips bold and bright for spring, or like to keep things subtle with soft pinks and peaches this season, get your fill with the best of the best!

Intelligent Nutrient’s Lip Delivery: Gloss That’s Actually Good For You!

Calling all lipstick and lip gloss addicts! While your days of actually tasting flavored gloss straight out of the tube are hopefully far behind you (along with wearing diapers and finger-painting your parents’ household walls), do you ever think of what you’re inadvertently (and inevitably) ingesting by wearing so much lip product? After all, not all beauty products – especially lip glosses – are created equally, and if it’s going anywhere near your mouth or on your body, shouldn’t it be good for you? Intelligent Nutrients as a brand is a firm believer of the importance of being a smart beauty queen, making sure that all the ingredients in their lip products are USDA certified organic, food-grade ingredients that taste, look, and feel good for your lips. Their Lip Delivery Antioxidant Gloss hydrates, softens, and smoothens with anti-aging seed oil and nutrient-rich oils of acai, rosehip, black cumin, and natural fruit extracts for a flavorful, shiny finish that keeps your lips looking smooth and fabulous now and later. 100% free of any toxic or artificial ingredients that other popular lip products may contain, you can officially apply, re-apply, smooch, then re-apply some more knowing that your gloss is truly good for you!

Urban Decay Super Saturated Lip Color For Lips That Pack a Punch!

  • posted April 1st, 2012

I’ve only just begun testing the waters of regular lipstick-wearing (in all my years of being a beauty addict, I’ve always been more of a gloss girl!), and so far I’ve been having fun experimenting with this season’s bold, bright shades by finally mustering up the courage to wear them in public. However, through all my experimentation, it’s become abundantly clear that not all lipsticks were created equally – a fact that’s especially apparent when you’re dealing with rich shades that are meant to be so boldly saturated and as smooth, even, and clean-looking as possible! I could keep shopping around, testing lipstick brand after lipstick, but I don’t exactly have endless beauty-buying funds (don’t we all wish?), plus one particular product I’ve encountered already may just have it all! Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color comes in chubby pencil form, so upon first application you’ll probably be surprised at how smoothly and color-intensely it applies. Shiny like a gloss yet saturated like the richest lipstick (the name of the product is no joke!), it looks fresh and moisturized and never heavy, and you don’t have to constantly reapply in multiple coats to get your desired high-impact finish. My only complaint is that they don’t come in more colors! If you like Lipstick Queen’s Chinatown glossy pencils, you’ll love these amped-up lookalikes from Urban Decay!

We’re Lusting After YSL’s New Glossy Stains!

I’ve only recently begun straying from my tried-and-true (and okay, boring) signature neutral glossy lip for the sake of trying out more adventurous and trendy lip colors. But considering lipstick is an entire sector of beauty and I’ve barely even scratched the surface, choosing flattering and fun colors is one challenge – actually sifting through the countless brands, formulas, and finishes is a huge, daunting task in itself! That’s why I’ve honed in on the brand-new product from Yves Saint Laurent that boasts the ability to do a little bit of everything – not quite a lipstick, much lighter than a gloss, and so much more than a stain, the just-launched Glossy Stains boast maximum color pay-off in a way that glides on effortlessly but doesn’t slide off, smear, or fade. It gives you that desired wet look without feeling waxy or sticky, and it offers over 20 shades that truly last! The only downside is that they’re a bit pricey at $32 a pop, but they sound like they deliver the most bang for your buck! If you’ve tried these new Glossy Stains, weigh in – do they look as awesome as they sound?

Paint Your Lips in a Kaleidoscope of Colors From Le Metier de Beaute!

Unlike eyeshadow palettes, which I will never stop lusting after no matter how extensive and redundant my shadow collection becomes, I rarely get excited over lip palettes. Maybe I’m boring, or maybe I’m just more particular about my lip colors and therefore less likely to branch out and experiment with multiple shades all in one palette… but I just have a hard time working up the desire to splurge on a gloss or lipstick palette. That is, until an extra-fabulous one comes around that’s just so great that I need to have it! I’m currently having one of those rare lip palette moments with Le Metier de Beaute’s Aurora Kaleidoscope Lip Kit – a set of four springy shades from the brand’s Northern Lights collection that all look a bit on the intimidating side in their slide-out pots, but apply fresh, sheer, and ultra-glossy. The luxe packaging and awesome slide-out functionality makes this lip kit a must-have beauty gadget in my book, but I’m still trying to decide if it’s worth the hefty $95 price tag. What say you – does this spring gloss set suit your fancy?

Will You ‘Crystallize Your Lips’ With Swarovski Lipstick?

  • posted March 1st, 2012
  • Beauty

If you haven’t ever walked by a Swarovski store window display and thought, they really should come out with a makeup line, you’re clearly not as sparkle-obsessed as I am. On the other hand, if you are like me, I’ve got some good news coming your way! In addition to Swarovski’s limited-release lip gloss and highlighter pendants, as well as their first-ever fragrance, Aura, the world-famous crystal jeweler is continuing to expand their ventures into the realm of beauty with a gorgeous set of lipsticks, called Crystallize Your Lips. Due out in the UK in June (and hopefully on US territory as soon as possible!), this stunning set of lip colors features six shimmery shades with coordinating jewel toppers that much the shade inside. Gorgeous, right? If the packaging isn’t tempting enough, the lipsticks themselves actually contain micronized Swarovski crystal to give them that gorgeous glimmer without verging on too glittery. For all you Brits out there, these lipsticks are set to sell at £23 a pop (that’s a pricey 36.25 US dollars), but personally I think they’re worth the splurge. What say you – will you scout these ‘sticks out when they hit American shores?

Rimmell London’s Kate Moss Lipstick Collection – Are You Buyin’ It?

  • posted March 1st, 2012

Kate Moss’s supermodel beauty secrets can be yours for just $5.49?! Okay, not quite, but the Rimmel London spokeswoman just released her first-ever collection of lasting lip color for the brand last month, and I’d be lying if the magazine ads didn’t have me at least slightly intrigued. I’ve never been much of a lipstick queen myself, but when it comes to testing out bargain drugstore beauty buys, I have a hard time convincing myself to hold back. “My inspiration for this range was really to create a range of easy to wear, chic, modern shades that I have always worn and loved,” Moss said. “From bright reds to soft pinks and nudes, there is a shade for everyone and any occasion.” I agree that the selection of shades is a good mix of versatile, wearable, and fun, and it’s hard to deny that the packaging and design (with Kate’s bold red signature) is pretty sexy, for a lipstick. Have you tried Kate Moss’s new Rimmel London shades? What do you think?
