Givenchy’s Gorgeous Pastel Luminizer For Spring!

When it comes to face-enhancing makeup, like blush, bronzer, and luminizer, I’m typically less adventurous than I am with lipgloss, eyeshadow, and the like. Instead of stocking up and experimenting with any and all of the newest shades, finishes, and formulas (okay, some may call it hoarding), I typically find a finishing powder I like and stick with it… until it gets discontinued or shatters in my purse, of course. The one exception is that I am a sucker for pretty palettes… and Givenchy’s new-for-spring Le Prisme Visage Bucolique sets the standard relatively high up there in terms of prettiness! Infused with four different pastels, the shades are arranged and layered within the compact to apply evenly (so clumsy makeup-appliers don’t need to worry about showing up in public with unsightly green-tinted cheeks!) and the overall finish is subtle with just a slight neutral, flattering iridescence. With minimal shimmer, but just the right amount of light-reflecting radiance, this luminizer seems like the ultimate universally-flattering addition to anyone’s makeup regime this spring!

Get a Head Start on Your Spring Break Glow With a Luminizing Body Lotion

As much as some of us would like to, we can’t all be blessed with a tan year-round – and it isn’t necessarily always in season to rock a just-back-from-the-beach glow. But that shouldn’t discourage you from benefitting from the more natural options of beautifying your complexion! Cop a spring version of the perfect faux glow in the most flattering way possible, with a luminizing body lotion. Unlike self-tanners, it won’t leave you streaky, discolored or unseasonably orange, and there’s no need for any tricky trial-and-error to find your ideal skin tone match. Luminizers work for all skin tones and types, moisturizing skin while leaving just the slightest shimmery sheen that will catch the light in all the right places, making you appear just a tad bit slimmer and bringing out the best of your natural tone without tampering with it. You’ll get a more natural-looking spring glow that camouflages skin imperfections and leaves you naturally radiant!

Benefit’s Watt’s Up Highlighter is Here to Brighten Up Your Beauty Routine

Is it too early to start compiling 2012’s Christmas wish list? Just kidding – lucky for my wallet and me, the latest makeup must-have I’ve got my sights set on is hardly a splurge and worth every penny! Benefit’s brand-new addition to their modest collection of facial highlighters, Watt’s Up, serves up a pretty cream-to-powder champagne-hued sheen that’s multi-flattering and softly gorgeous for any occasion. I’ve never been much of a blush girl, but I’ve developed a recent obsession with their more subtle cousin, as highlighters still work to sculpt and flatter without the added pressure of finding your perfect shade. Blend with fingers, a stippling brush, or the handy sponge applicator that comes with it depending on your desired effect and coverage. Oily complexions beware – be sure to use sparingly to accent cheekbones and work the light to your advantage. You may be surprised by how far a little touch of highlighter can go when it comes to boosting your overall glow!

Get a Rosy, Bronze, or Glowing Complexion with Urbanglow Cream Highlight

Ever since I realized that just slapping on some foundation and calling it a day just wasn’t doing my skin or my cheekbones any justice, I’d been on the look-out for the perfect complexion-enhancing product. Blush, bronzer, or highlighter — I’ve collected more than my share of them all, but the search never seemed to end for a product that gives me a universally flattering glow, no matter what look I’m trying to achieve or other makeup shades I’m wearing on any given day. As a result, I’ve built up an annoyingly extensive arsenal of products that I swap out depending on the rest of my makeup look of the moment, but until the just-released Urbanglow Cream Highlighter was released by Urban Decay, I had yet to find the perfect go-to product! While I normally stray from cream-based highlighters for my cheeks (especially as someone who’s self-conscious about my pores), this formula is so silky sheer that it doesn’t feel caked on or sticky. Because of its sheerness, it’s also amazing versatile — depending on your shade of choice, you can build the color gradually for a more sunkissed look, or sweep on a light layer for just the slightest shimmery sheen! You can also sweep it on your collarbone or brow bone for a fresh dewy look that can be tough to pull off with most powder-based products! Despite the deceptively edgy skull packaging, I have to give props to Urban Decay for their more practical yet gorgeous recent releases!

Who Needs A Tan When You Can Glow With These Luminizers?

Now that summer is looming ahead, it’s hard not to be swept up by the idea of being toned and tan in time for swimsuit season. Spray-tanned, self-tanned, risking it with an old-fashioned tan, or whatever other lengths people will go to get their tan on… did you ever think that maybe being bronze for summer is kind of overrated? Especially when there’s such a fine line between being sun-kissed and looking like the newest cast member of “The Jersey Shore.” Don’t get me wrong, I love a healthy sweep of bronzer every now and then, but it’s easy to overdo it, and when that’s the case, I’d rather look pasty than streaky and orange!

That’s why I’m totally lovin’ luminizers instead! Whether lotion or cream-based like Nars’ Orgasm Luminizer, pressed powder, or even brush-on like Trish McEvoy’s version, luminizers are like bronzers without the actual bronze. Instead, they provide a subtle shimmer or flattering sheen to your cheekbones (that’s never oily!) to enhance what you’ve got without adding any extra unwanted color. They give you that bona fide healthy-looking summer glow while working with your natural skin tone, so you can still look like summer has treated you well no matter how much (or how little) sun you’ve actually had!
