How to Shop TheFind for Eco-Friendly Beauty Products

Shopping for eco-friendly beauty products can be tricky sometimes. There are so many different types of beauty products on the market which makes it difficult to find what you are looking for. Here are some tips on how to navigate TheFind for purchasing your beauty products.

TheFind mobile app is a very useful tool when shopping for products, especially on the go. You can download it from the app store onto your smart phone and then create an account. Since there is such a wide variety of eco-friendly products, it helps to narrow down your search by thinking of what type of beauty product you are searching for. For example, when typing “eco-friendly beauty products” into the search bar at the top of the screen, the page loads and offers you to choose from: Walls, Bath Brushes, Loofahs and Mitts, Air Freshener Sprays, Liquid Hand Soap and Computers. Searching for the term “eco-friendly beauty products” clearly allows too broad of a spectrum to look through. Therefore, it helps to think about more specific types of products.

We will use the image below as our shopping example for makeup products. Within makeup there are also numerous categories of items: eye shadow, foundation, brushes, lipstick, etc. It is important to identify which category you are interested in. At the top of the screen, type in “eco-friendly makeup brushes” to better specify your item. By doing so, you will be able to eliminate other categories and find only makeup brushes.

Whether it be makeup, hair care or skin care, identifying what categories you can narrow down in each type of product can help you find what you are looking for much quicker. Specifying categories like shampoo, eye shadow, face wash or moisturizer are some tips to help you pinpoint good search terms to type into the search bar. As usual, using TheFind location feature will allow you to shop at nearby stores and in an eco-friendly manner.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a loud and proud Benefit Cosmetics fan. I mean, not only are their products total life-savers, but they’re also adorably packaged with cheeky names that just further suggest that the team behind the brand is just as genius as the beauty goodies themselves. Okay, so maybe I sound a little too fangirl-crazy, but c’mon — from their Pore-fessional Primer to their ridiculously popular Benetint lip and cheek stain, my makeup bag certainly wouldn’t be complete sans Benefit. Now, just in time for the summer season ahead, the brand is jumping on the balm bandwagon and expanding their range of multipurpose tints to include a series of Hydrating Tinted Lip Balms, in all of our favorite Benefit hues. Benebalm, Lollibalm, ChaChabalm, and Posiebalm — no matter which signature tint you prefer (in my case, all of them), you can rest assured that your pucker will not only look on-point, but will also stay hydrated all summer long, thanks to the balm’s mango butter-enriched formula. Just like the tinted stains that came before them, these handy balms pack a semi-sheer punch of color that’s perfectly buildable for customizing your preferred look without ever overdoing it!

Are you a fan of Benefit’s hydrating new lip balms? Which hue will you be picking up first? Let us know in the comments!

I know I’m not alone when I say I’m a big fan of Urban Decay’s Naked line — from their lightweight Naked Skin foundation to all three of their stunning Naked Eyeshadow Palettes. So it should come as no surprise that I was super stoked to hear about the addition of three new Naked Flushed Palettes to help expand my ever-growing UD makeup “wardrobe.” Just in time for the summer months ahead — or better yet, NOW, before we’ve gotten a chance to get our real summer glow on — Urban Decay has expanded their tricolor bronzing cheek palette to include three new combinations in Native, Streak, and Strip. Each slim, sleek palette includes a blush, highlighter, and bronzer in one, which can be used separately or blended to create your own hotter-than-hot custom flush. Aside from the gorgeous color combos, it’s hard not to love the powder’s featherlight, silky finish, which is just subtle enough to convince some that you’re really going “commando” with your makeup routine!

Nails & Makeup Fit For Spring

Complete your Spring style with these nail and makeup trends we spotted on Cosmopolitan and Glamour:

Nails:

-       Blush Pinks: A blush shade of pink is not too dark or light, making it perfect for the spring season – plus it looks great with all skin tones.

-       Baby Blues: Light blue shades give off a relaxed, resort vibe that anyone will be eager to wear after a long winter. The cool blue also helps minimize the appearance of redness on your skin that is more likely to occur in the warmer weather.

-       Coral-Peach Combos: This orange-tinted shade is nice because it works with most skin tones and is a subtle way to work orange into your wardrobe.

-       Bold Berries: For a dark shade that is still spring appropriate, go with a subtle berry polish like the Chanel Nail Vernis in Coup De Coeur. The color is the perfect dark shade for spring because it still has brightness to it.

Makeup:

-       Soft Berry Lips: A light berry shade like the Michael Kors Lip lacquer in Dame provides a soft and neutral look – try it with minimal makeup for a natural, spring-appropriate appearance.

-       Blue Eyeshadow: Rich, solid blue from the lash to the crease creates a stunning appearance. To create the look, apply a shimmering cream eye color like the Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color in Ice onto the lids, creating a crescent shape just above the creases and finish it off with a layer of vibrant blue.

-       Cat-Eyes: Chic cat-eyes are especially big for spring, so bust out the black liquid liner. To ensure a clean line, apply a thin cotton swab dipped in eye-makeup remover.

-       Ethereal White Eye-Shadow and Liner: A wash of iridescent whites and pinks gives your lids a dewy freshness ideal for spring. Complete the look with white eyeliner and rim the inner corner of your eyes with white eye shadow.

The wait is over, beauty addicts! Derek Lam’s much-anticipated collaboration line with Estee Lauder has finally arrived, and you can have it all for $85. The collection actually isn’t a range, but rather consists of just one stylish set – a chic minaudiere clutch filled with midnight-inspired makeup hues like Kajal Crayon in Near Night, eyeshadow in Smoked Gold, and a universally flattering lip color in Smoked Blush. Derek Lam worked directly with Estee Lauder creative director Tom Pecheux to come up with a set of makeup must-haves inspired by the textures and tones of Lam’s Spring 2014 collection. Designed to be versatile enough to suit both the subtle and the statement-making beauty maven – and to create looks for both day or night – the collection consists of more wearable hues that can be used to create a stronger, sexier look when desired. It would have been a great addition to my Christmas wishlist, but hey – now I have something to spend one of my many gift cards on!

Would You Splurge on Essie’s At-Home Gel Manicure System?

Although it doesn’t leave my nails in the best condition, I love me a gel mani! I quickly got hooked on gel manicures after finally taking the plunge and popping my Shellac ”cherry” last summer, after too many years of wasted money on insufficient, chip-prone “regular” manicures. And then last fall, like it was meant to be, one of my favorite nail polish brands Essie released their own professional LED gel system. Essie’s system boasts a gentler, care-conscious take on the traditional in-salon gel manicure that won’t leave nails in crappy condition when it’s time to take them off, and also comes equipped with a line of 36 gel shades to keep your nail game on-point! Of course, a salon-worthy tool like this doesn’t come cheap; the lamp itself will cost you a pretty penny ($199 to be exact), but think of all the money you’ll save on salon manis in the future!

Have you tried Essie’s at-home LED gel system? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Bold Brows Made Easy Thanks to Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade

As someone who has been cursed with sadly sparse yet fiercely coarse brows, I’ve more or less made it my mission to defy my God-given features and somehow achieve awesome arches, even if that means faking it. I don’t have too many outlandish or unrealistic requests; I like my brows clean and precise without looking Sharpie’d on, and I like hairs to look groomed without appearing cemented into place. So far, I’ve tried a bevy of brow-shading and arch-taming projects — from pencils and gels to eyeshadows and even brow markers — but until recently, I had yet to find a “holy grail” of brow products that would shade, shape, and keep hairs in place throughout the day. Figures Anastasia Beverly Hills would come to the rescue! The brow mecca’s latest product ventures into a product variety I had not yet seen before: brow pomade! Dipbrow Pomade is highly-concentrated and buildable, so you can shape, define, and “carve” brows with the utmost precision, and also expertly blend color to create a more natural appearance. As for wayward strands, the waxy formula also keeps hairs in place, but won’t smudge or smear, even on oily skin.

Have you tried Anastasia’s Dipbrow Pomade yet? What are YOUR favorite brow products? Let us know in the comments below!

Pucker Up & Stock Up on Tarte’s New Power Pigments

Why is it that lipstick in crayon or pencil form is so much more fun than your traditional tube? Maybe it’s my childhood obsession with art supplies, combined with my knack for hoarding any and all lip products, but whatever the case, Tarte’s Power Pigments are pretty darn hard to resist. Part balm, part lipstick, part lip stain, these handy tints serve triple-duty, saving you some serious room in your on-the-go makeup bag. Inspired by the brand’s newly-redesigned cheek tints, these punchy lip pencils nourish with a moisturizing combo of shea butter, vitamins, and a dash of refreshing mint, and deliver shiny, bold color for a flattering pout that lasts for hours. The twist-up applicator — no sharpener necessary — make them great for slathering on some quick color on the go or for mid-day touch-ups. With color pay-off this awesome, keep in mind that a little goes a long way, so don’t be intimidated by the $24 price tag!
