Welcome to the Hotel Missoni

Missoni Hotel in Edinburgh-2b
The Ritz is where I will retire myself when I am old and gray and wish to spend my twilight years in quiet luxury. That said, at this moment I’m young and I want to stay at the loud, overstated Missoni Hotel in Edinburgh,UK and have a good time. The first of a proposed chain of hotels, the six-story building is dressed head-to-toe in signature Missoni patterns and bold colors. The hotel also brings in the design sensibility of Marcel Sandes, Eero Saarinen, Arne Jacobson and Hans Wegner. Rooms start at $355 a night.(via Cyana.Trend.Land).

Wallpaper Inspired Throw Pillows

Bold prints on wallpaper seem to be high on the list for home fashions this coming winter season. Modern graphic pillows inspired by wallpaper designs work well, especially if you live in an apartment.  If you like the look of bold modern wallpaper but aren’t quite ready to devote an entire wall to one, you can certainly get the look with some modern graphic throw pillows, and the the commitment level comes way down, as well.

I have quite a feminine sofa set in neutral tones, so I’ve gone for this set of Inhabit AILGO Ailanthus Throw Pillow. Definitely a fantastic little set of pillows, and right on trend for the coming season.

Hot In The Hive: Bodum Bistro Toaster

bodum-toaster

I don’t know if they’re just too busy browning our bagels to perfection to be concerned with looks, but it seems exceedingly rare to find aesthetically pleasing toasters. It’s even more unlikely that I’d spot a toaster I felt I just had to have based on cuteness alone! Until now, toasters seem to have been strictly business — pop in your toast, grab it when it pops back out, get on with your day — but the Bodum Bistro 2-slice Toaster isn’t only functional… it’s pretty darn spiffy too! With eight fun colors to choose from and a modern heat-resistant rubber exterior, it doesn’t just look pretty, either! The adjustable-width slots can fit all sorts of slices (no more cramming or jamming your huge slabs of bread) and the pull-out crumb tray makes for easy clean-up. I think I already have about 4 free toasters from various other appliance purchases, but this one is just so cute, it might be worth the splurge!

Price: $79.95
Who Found It: xgalexy was the first to add the Bodum Bistro Toaster to the Hive.

Haus of Style – OlsenHaus’ Haute Modern Vegan Shoes

Take a step in the right direction with olsenHaus, the 100% vegan line by Elizabeth
Olsen. The collection boasts clean, modern design, with a twist -
resulting in interesting, unexpected, yet totally wearable
combinations.

A long-time vegetarian and recent vegan convert, Elizabeth uses sustainable components as much as
possible and sources most materials from Italy under fair trade
practices. The styles are similar to some of the high-fashion, trendy
shapes we've been seeing on the red carpet and runway, but without the
chromium-dyed leather skins.
Topping the list are the wedges, perfect for everyday wear, but with a
kick. The Wit style ($160) pairs two of spring's hottest
trends – neutrals and neons. Natural linen makes it wearable for work,
while the touch of hot pink at the heel adds a little sass to your
office strut. The Love style ($175) is equally
cute and wearable and looks great with bum-hugging organic dark wash
jeans. Both wedges let you stand a little taller, and not just because
you're walking with the knowledge that your shoes are cruelty-free.
Get ready to dress your man in something meaningful as well – coming
soon, olsenHaus will be releasing a men's collection!
