Emerald Jewelry Pieces Without the “Precious Gem” Price Tag

Now that we’ve officially welcomed 2013 with open arms (and open wardrobes!), Pantone’s 2013 Color of the Year, emerald, opens up plenty of exciting opportunities when it comes to beauty, clothing, and accessories – especially jewelry! While last year’s big jewelry trends included chunky bib necklaces, neon accents, and of course, plenty of spikes, 2o13′s baubles are going in an even bolder direction with statement stones and bold geometric shapes, namely in the shade of the year, emerald! And if you’re excited to try adding emerald to your jewelry collection for the new year, but not so stoked about the price that normally comes with actual emerald jewelry, I’ve rounded up some great on-trend pieces to help you rock the look for less! Bold bangles, graphic earrings, and more spikes – peep some of our favorites in the links below!

With the holidays approaching, I’m all about glitzy statement jewelry to build out my end-of-year wardrobe. Sure, some of it can get pretty pricey depending on the store, but it’s amazing how easily you can transform and repurpose an old outfit into something totally fresh and on-trend. Rock On With Alexandra Beth Designs Geode Jewelry

Alexandra Samit of Alexandra Beth Designs may be fresh out of college, but she’s hardly a newbie to the accessories design world. With a successful line of gorgeous jewelry that’s already been lauded by the likes of InStyle, People Magazine, and fashion bloggers galore, Alexandra Beth is already making waves in the realm of jewelry design among established designers twice her age! While her eclectic array of baubles is quite diverse – boasting everything from cocktail rings to pendant necklaces, wrap bracelets, and more – but most notable (in my personal opinion) is her dazzling series of raw stone and geode jewelry! It’s amazing how the most natural-cut “bling” can be even more sparkly and eye-catching than the more put-together bib necklaces and glitzy polished stones, and Alexandra Beth has a remarkable eye for keeping things simple and elegant yet undeniably statement-making. Sharp angles, unfinished edges, and dazzling stones give her jewelry character while also helping us fashionistas pull off that coveted “trying without looking like you’re trying” effortless glamour. Fall in Love With Funky Tribal Jewelry From Holst + Lee

After one look at Holst + Lee’s eclectic collection of necklaces, it’s hard not to fall head over heels for their affinity for bright colors, effortlessly mixed media, and tribal influences. The New York based design duo, Natalie Holst and Rochelle Lee, bonded over their mutual love of vibrant colors and creative aesthetic, and it’s hard not to be on-board with their luxe takes on cord jewelry. Their collection features everything from statement-making bib necklaces to more delicate (but still stand-out) collar chokers, and even multi-layered pieces for an extra dose of color and metallic shine, and while it might be difficult for us mere fashionistas to find them in the stores just yet, they’ve already been praised by the likes of Vogue and InStyle. I personally love the pieces’ stand-alone appeal – they can make even the most simple sundress or tee-and-jeans ensemble look instantly more high-fashion and exciting, just in time for spring and summer! Check out their full collection on their official website, and stay tuned for more shopping availability to come!

Give Your Wardrobe a Glitzy Upgrade with a Show-Stopping Statement Necklace

Unless I have something brand new hanging in my closet just begging to be worn for the first time, I almost always feel stumped about what to wear for a night-out occasion, no matter how many party-ready frocks I already have. For some reason, my gut reaction to my already-worn attire is nearly always the need to stifle a yawn (such is the life of an insatiable fashionista, I suppose), and I’m always faced with the sudden desire to freshen things up somehow, often on the fly!

One quick solution to livening up a tried and true (and therefore somewhat tired) wardrobe is a statement necklace — you’d be surprised at how much impact just one key piece can have on an otherwise “blah” or simple outfit, and transform a more casual look into something chic and upscale. Opt for something pretty and boudoir-inspired like this Alberta Ferretti bead-and-tulle necklace, or something a bit more rough around the edges yet still gorgeous like this natural-cut amethyst and stone necklace by Dannijo. Go for an elegant take on the tribal trend with this bib necklace from Falconiere, or try an unexpected pop of color with something unique like this gold-plated coral necklace by Kenneth Jay Lane. Or, if you dig the layered look, this dramatic multi-chain necklace proves that edgy can still be glamorous!

Dying to add one (or more!) of these gorgeous statement necklaces to your arsenal of stylish party accessories? Enter our Net-a-Porter $5,000 Shopping Spree Giveaway for a chance to shop till you drop!

In addition to the shopping spree of your dreams, the winner will also receive the support of a dedicated fashion advisor, and shop from the most coveted luxury brands in the world, including Alexander McQueen, Christian Louboutin, Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, Yves Saint Laurent and many more.

Exclusive Lara Noel Hill Recycled Vintage Necklaces Have Arrived

Lara Noel Hill is a talented LA jewelry designer who recycles one-of-a-kind vintage jewelry into fresh, modern pieces that any vintage fashionista will love.

After a little persuasion and whole lot of wooing, she agreed to design several exclusive necklaces for Zuburbia that will be available only through my Open Sky Store.

And ta-dah! Her first two designs have finally arrived.

Each piece is lovingly handmade and you should grab her talent while you can at a price you can afford.

After all, her beauties have graced the runways of Eileen Fisher, Richard Tyler and Betsey Johnson and have been worn by celebrities as diverse as Queen Latifah, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Sharon Osbourne, Kim Delaney and Avril Lavigne.

Her first necklace design for Zuburbia features a vintage 1950s Coro gold-and-white floral brooch as its centerpiece and is accented with a vintage 1960 gold-toned chain, textured beads and faux pearls.

And while Lara’s pieces retail as high as $750 at various boutiques across the country, she’s offering this one-of-a-kind piece through Zuburbia for only $145.

It’s an exclusive and beautiful find for a vintage fashionista!

A Touch of Victoriana – Jewelry by Mama’s Little Babies

One of the biggest trends of the past few years is that of steampunk: the union of Victorian formality with scientific invention and a touch of fantasy. Rather than decking yourself out like a character at Comic-Con, you can pick up on the trend with just a few simple pieces. A trim velvet blazer, a bit of ruffle on a blouse, some tall button boots, and the perfect bit of jewelry will certainly do the trick.

Many artists are creating Victorian-inspired jewelry of every variety, but one standout comes from the collection at Mama’s Little Babies. Using a technique that combines Victorian illustration with lightweight plastic, these pieces add a bit of ephemera and oddity to your look. Some pieces are colorful, but the best are in stark black and white – offering a detailed graphic moment that is entirely unexpected!

Playful and intriguing, these pieces are the perfect finishing touch for an otherwise basic ensemble. Above anything, they’ll certainly inspired compliments and conversation!

Easy Accessory: The Multi-Chain Necklace

There’s nothing worse that rushing out the door only to realize that you’ve forgotten something, namely the ever-important accessory that holds your entire look together. The whole day passes and for some reason you feel only half-way finished, not quite completely dressed. But what can you do? When you have to get out and get to work, accessories sometimes fall by the wayside. Luckily, a new trend in necklaces offers a simple solution to this common dilemma.

Multi-chain necklaces offer the richness of a layered look but in just one step. An easy, grab-and-go accessory, these pieces dress up even the most simple everyday ensemble with panache.

Hive and Honey’s Multi Chain Long Necklace mixes both bright and gunmetal finishes with different sizes of links for a glittering downtown look. Stella and Dot’s popular Avery Necklace mixes different metallic chains with freshwater pearls for a polished, ladylike touch. Banana Republic’s Bonfire Necklace offers a natural look with its mix of leather and metal strands. The knotted leather offers a unique bit of texture that works to create an organic draping of gold-toned metal chains.

Any of these options can be tossed on over a basic t-shirt, shell, or basic sheath dress for one-step chic. Their layers of metallic glimmer will peek from under a blazer and will complement the draping on a cowl-neck top on date night too. So many necklaces in one – even on those rushed days you’ll have time to be polished perfection!
