A Home for Your Necklace

Sure, there are lots and lots of cute ways to display your life’s work of necklace collections. There are scary doll-like stands and long bars that you’re supposed to let your pieces dangle off of.
Nothing seemed to be working for me. I even had the gorgeous jewelry box with the door that opened up to the rotating necklace holder. Fancy. But not for me.

Then, one day, I happened upon the web site jewelrysupply.com after reading about it in a magazine, and saw this necklace board. Super simple, this little gem of a find gets the job done. I can pile one or two necklaces on the felt board and get in 30+ necklaces and bracelets, and know that nothing is getting scratched and that everyone can oooh and ahhhh at my collection.

And isn’t that really what you’re looking for, after all?

Where Do You Hide Your Hobbies?

I’ll admit it, even though I’ve spent a long time denying this fact — I find it hard to throw things away. And when it comes to magazines, it’s almost impossible. I moved my InStyle’s and Glamour’s and Marie Claire’s from state to state with me, despite the limited amount of space. In a tiny apartment though, I was beginning to question my morals. I barely had enough space to house my pots and pans, how could I possibly justify keeping years-old magazines around?

That was before I found the Bubble Blast Magazine Holder. Now I can have something pretty to look at — and I can keep my magazines.

Organize Your Bag and Your Life

purse-organizers

You love your big purse. It fits not just your wallet, phone and lipstick it can also hold that book you’ve been meaning to read, a few lost pens, a brush and possibly a sippy cup, and a diaper or five.  However, when you need one of the important items that your purse should always possess (that wallet!) you can’t find it.  The same goes for long flights with the kids, trips to the store with a toddler and more.  You need organization and it can come easily just by choosing the right way to organize your bag and possibly your life.

The Pouchee- Designed for those trendy bags that also become bottomless pits.  Simply place all your important cards, cash, phone and more.  It’s easy to use, comes in many styles and colors and can be transferred from one bag to the next.

Fleurville Re-Run MicroPod- This handy pouch is perfect for when you are on the go.  It can hold your phone, ipod, sunglasses, even a diaper, wipes and changing pad. The MicroPod is great for flying or short trips.  The fleece-lined pocket keeps your items scratch-free and it even has an ear piece “pass-through” for your phone or ipod.

Joey Junior Purse Organizer-  If you prefer a roll up version then the Joey Junior Original is for you.  Easy to fill up with all your purse needs and easy to roll up and place in your handbag, you will never feel disorganized again.

Make Back to School a Breeze with these Time Saving Finds

Kids are heading back to school or have just started back and as parents of school aged kids know-mornings can be hectic.

Packing lunches, getting kids up and dressed, and out the door can be a challenge during the school year.

We have found several products that can help save you time by giving your kids more responsibility to get ready for school.

First off we like the My Own Shower for kids who are old enough to take a shower but may not be big enough to easily use a standard shower head.

Next, we think all parents should have kids pick out their clothes for the week or at least help you pick out outfits. We like the 5 Day-7 Shelf Closet Organizer by Whitney Design because there are spots for shoes and a favorite item or extras like socks or a hat.

To help make the morning get off to a good start we like the Teach Me Time Talking Alarm Clock
for elementary age kids that are learning time or know time but are not ready for an adult alarm clock.

And to save time and help the environment we like the Reduce Water Week Set of 5 Bottles.

These colorful, fun bottles are BPA-free and have a fridge organizer so you can fill them up before the school week and grab one each day before school.

We also like the Contigo Kids Auto-Seal Bottle for school lunches and outings because they are leak proof and it auto-seals between sips for no spill lunches. Kids can easily fill these up and there won’t be extra clean up from leaks after school.

Make this school year less stress free by getting your kids involved and adding a few products to get your family organized before the school week.

Baby Geared: the Peanut Gallery

Got babies?  Then you need to get bins.  Because accumulation happens at an early age.

This spunky bin from 3 Sprouts will hold a ton of stuffed animals, books, and games, and its hungry-looking face definitely lends itself to “Now it’s time to feed the elephant!”-type of cleaning strategery.

Where Do Your DVDs Go?

dvdholder

Although DVDs have become somewhat a thing of the past — what with free movies and TV shows on the Internet and Netflix and all — I still like to collect my favorites, if not for the sole purpose of showing them off.

But how to show them off? We spend tons on our televisions and our entertainment centers, but I wasn’t sure where to find the perfct DVD holder. I didn’t need anything too big, because despite my best efforts to become a movie concoisseur, I have yet to do so, and my DVD collection consists of a few classics, and of course some seasons of Friends, Gilmore Girls and Felicity (you can’t blame a girl for trying). So small and steady would certainly win this race.

When I found this black wall mounted number, I knew I had found my object of affection. Now I could show off the DVD collection I was so proud of AND now worry about what to hang on that awkward wall next to the entertainment center. I love when you accomplish two things with one purchase.

Bathroom Space-Saver Shelves

bathroom-shelves

When you live in a 450 sq. foot apartment in Manhattan, every inch of space counts. It wasn’t until after I had signed my lease that I realized I had absolutely no room for towels or products in my bathroom. This of course set off the search for the perfect bathroom shelves. Lots of storage potential in a tiny space was essential, and I certainly couldn’t afford to pay a lot for it, either. Wall cabinets were out of the question — they just didn’t provide enough shelving. And single standing shelves all appeared to be too obtrusive and bulky. I got lucky when a friend told me about the Addison 3-piece bathroom collection. For a very reasonable price, I got three pieces of furniture — an over-the-toilet (fantastic space-saver!) shelving unit for towels, a wall-mounted shelf for extra bathroom essentials, and a third 3-shelf unit that currently resides in my kitchen and houses all of my spices. At least now I don’t have to walk across my living room after a shower to get to the towel I left in my bedroom.

Mommy Insider’s Tips for Organizing Family Photos

Moms, did you know that you can organize and enjoy our family photographs?

If you’re anything like me, you have hundreds of photographs stored on your computer and about 5 in frames and maybe a few more than that in a scrapbook or album. I feel terrible because I have a great scrapbook for my 9 year old and a tiny little album for my 3 year old. With the tools shown here, you can finally organize, store, print, and share your most cherished photographs!

Picture Keeper

Picture Keeper

The Picture Keeper is a flash drive with embedded software that you don’t have to download to your hard drive–you just plug it in and it finds and copies all of your image files, even your desktop! You can even use the same Picture Keeper for multiple computers, including a Mac and a PC! When all of your photographs are on the Picture Keeper, unplug it and store it in a safe place. If you have a digital photo frame, plug the Picture Keeper in for an instant slide show. Or take your Picture Keeper to the drug store to select and print photos from a kiosk. Every time you take new photos and download to your computer, just plug in the Picture Keeper and it will find the new or modified files and add only those!

CVS Photo Books

CVS Photo Books

CVS/pharmacy in-store photo books are ten pages long and can feature up to 72 photos, with up to ten additional pages available for purchase. The photo pages are printed on premium Kodak paper in one of three sizes, and can be designed in minutes at any in-store Photo Center. Customers bring digital media such as a memory card, CD or USB flash drive (Picture Keeper!) to their local CVS/pharmacy’s photo kiosk and select the “photo book” option, which automatically populates a book template with the selected photos. The pages are customizable by rearranging the pictures, changing the size of the photos, adding text and choosing from a variety of available backgrounds. Find your local CVS or visit the CVS Photo website to learn more.

4” x 6” holds 36 pictures – $5.99

6” x 8” holds 54 pictures – $12.99

8” x 10” holds 72 pictures – $14.99

Photo Printers

Photo printer

I forgot to print photographs or just didn’t because it seemed like a hassle but when I got a photo printer that changed. My photo printer (HP) goes with me on vacations because I know that if I don’t print an exciting photo right away, it might never be printed and will get lost in the mix until I come across it on the computer a couple of years later. Photo printers are available for every budget and in lots of sizes including convenient travel sizes.

Now you can enjoy your photographs for years to come whether you print them with a photo printer, transfer them from computer to computer with a Picture Keeper, show them off in a CVS Photo Book, or share them on a digital photo frame.
