Pooping The Eco-Friendly Way

Dogs are great but picking up after they’ve done their “business” is definitely a chore and throwing away all those plastic bags is definitely harmful for the environment. We searched the web for a better solution to clean the mess that was easy for us and easy on the earth.

The first product we found was BioBags Dog Waste Bags. These bags are eco-friendly because they are 100% biodegradable and compostable. They are derived from corn and are GMO-free.

The next product we discovered was the Eco-Pick Up Dog Waste Kit. These bags are also biodegradable but feature a handy dandy poop bag dispenser that clips onto your dog’s collar or leash. You’ll always be ready for nature’s calling.

These were just a couple of the earth-friendly dog waste bags out there. A great resource to price comparison shop for a variety of biodegradable dog waste bags is TheFind.

Any other solutions out there? Feel free to comment and let us know!

“Litter”ally Making Cats Eco-Friendly

felinepine

Cats can be extremely finicky when it comes to what they eat, where they hang out, and where they take care of their “business”. This week, Green Shopaholic takes a look at how your feline friends can help take care of the earth by using sustainable and natural cat litters. There are actually many alternatives and varieties to where your kitty can go potty.

One of the most popular natural cat litters is Feline Pine Cat Litter by Nature’s Earth Productsicon. Feline Pine is a pellet version litter that is made of compressed natural pine wood. It offers a fresh pine scent and when the pellets dissolve, it’s time to change the litter.

Next up, are litters made from recycled paper products. Yesterday’s News Cat Litter icon utilizes recycled newspapers to create non-toxic pellet litter. ExquisiCat Recycled Paper Scented Cat Littericon also uses 100% recycled paper. It comes in a pellet form that won’t stick to cats’ paws.

Two more alternatives are ones that are derived from common foods. World’s Best Cat Littericon surely lives up to its name. This 100% natural cat litter is made from whole kernel corn. It offers a soft texture, excellent clumping, and is completely bio-degradable. It is also flushable and septic-safe for easy clean up.

Another food derived litter is Swheat Scoop Cat Littericon. This all-natural scoopable litter is made from naturally processed wheat. Natural wheat enzymes eliminate odors and the litter is 100% biodegradable and compostable.

There are lots of natural options that will make both you and your furry friends happy.

Dog Beds Fit for a King

dogbeds

My puppies will be a year old next week and they’ll be ready to start transitioning from their kennels to dog beds, at least as a place to hang out during the day. Not only would a dog bed be a comfy place for them, it’d get these unsightly crates out of my living room!

Being fashion obsessed I am on the hunt for the ultimate dog bed. The designs range from natural and organic to opulent over the top thrones for the little prince or princess pup.  There are some delightful options out there ranging from stripes to modernist and they’re not all ridiculously priced. They’re still technically puppies so it might only be a matter of time till they rip a bed apart! For that reason, I don’t want to spend too much on a dog bed for my precious pals.

So here we are, the day the Oscars and life goes back to "normal" (whatever that may be). It was an exciting night for many. I’m sure I don’t need to recap the winners, as there are plenty of sites doing that already. What I will do is post some pictures of a few of the stars that showed up to the real Oscars along with TheFind’s pet stars featured in our very first video spoof of the Oscarss — The Golden Bones.

Pets on the Red Carpet

  • posted February 23rd, 2007

You read the title correctly, it actually says PETS (as in animals) on the red carpet. Which red carpet, you ask? Well, you’ll have to check out the video to find out. Like I said yesterday, you won’t find anything like this anywhere else. You can only find it at TheFind (and all the social video sites we posted it to, but you get what I mean). This video is brought to you by TheFind. There, is that better? ;o)

We promise you that this is THE gala event of the year! And you’re seeing it here first.

Without further ado…here are ThePets of TheFind:

PLEASE let us know what you think of our video by leaving comments, passing it on to your friends & family, rating it on YouTube, and more! Please feel free to add this video to your own blog or MySpace as well. Click here to go directly to YouTube.

It May Not Be the Oscars, but…

It’s coming soon…the gala event of the year! You haven’t seen anything like this before and it’s brought to you by TheFind. It’s true, the Oscars will be here Sunday and that’s a huge yearly event! Some will say it’s THE event of the year, but we’re here to tell you that there’s something else. Stay tuned because tomorrow’s the BIG day! I can’t give you any details yet, but I promise to give you the whole scoop tomorrow. Trust me, Perez Hilton doesn’t even have word on this one. But, he will. ;o)

Until tomorrow,

Do You Jog with Your Dog?

  • posted January 24th, 2007
  • Fashion

You may think that the title of this post is a funny question to ask, but I’m curious…do you jog with your dog? If so, how far do you go and how many times a week do you and your four-legged friend get out together? If you don’t, why not? Running’s good for you and your dog, right? But, the truth is that many of us dislike running. Some would even go so far as to say that they hate running (I prefer walking, personally). Or, maybe you don’t have time to take your dog out running. Is that it? Or, even worse, perhaps yJogadogou don’t have the energy!

If you’re not an ever faithful running partner for your dog, then I have the super, ultra deluxe gadget
for you (or, your dog actually)! Have you heard of the "Jog-a-Dog?" I hadn’t either until a friend sent me a link. I think this is a fabulous invention. Sure, it’s pricey, but think of how much more your dog will love you if he/she gets to run everyday! Furthermore, you won’t have to take your dog out running if you hate it, don’t have the time or the energy.

So, what do you think? Who’s up for some doggy indulgence?!?

Happy Running (for your dog),
Payton
