Feast Your Eyes on These Peeper-Printed Pieces for Fall/Winter 2013

Just when you thought 2013 had exhausted all of its pattern options, winter is bringing forth an entirely new, fresh spin on the trend. This season, eye prints are having a major moment (in fact, Kenzo modeled its entire Fall 2013 collection around the motif) and there’s nothing evil about them! That is, unless you consider their potential to make a serious dent in your wallet! After all, lip prints seemed to work for the fashion world, so why not play up the peepers? Whether you believe in the protective powers of the evil eye, seek the enlightenment of the third eye, or are just looking for an on-trend alternative to animal print this season, check out some of my favorite stylish eye-printed pieces in the links below!

Fall Trend Alert: Marble Prints

If you’re not ready to give up your summer obsession with prints – florals, checkers, leopard, tropical prints and beyond – don’t fret, because fall is offering up plenty of its own season-friendly patterned offerings. Case in point: marble prints. The stone-inspired pattern is cropping up on everything from dresses to accessories and even leggings this season, and we’re kind of loving the moody, cool, statue-inspired effect. Not too in-your-face, but with just enough fashion-forward flair to keep things interesting, these swirly, stoney prints are just what we needed to keep our love for patterned pieces alive for the gloomier seasons ahead! Check out my favorites in the links below – there’s a little something for any budget!

Summer Celestial Prints Are Out of This World!

It’s not quite Independence Day yet, but patriotism never goes out of style, right? Whether you’re looking for the perfect outfit to watch the fireworks this summer, or just want to add some more trendy patterns to your overflowing wardrobe, this season’s newest celestial-themed prints are where it’s at! Modern star patterns take the over-the-top cuteness out of the star-shaped silhouette and modernize it in light of the fashion world’s obsession with micro prints and patterns. Forget springy florals or tried-and-true ikat patterns – star prints are fresh and fun with a whimsical, dreamy quality, and manage to be youthful and stylish at the same time. From silky tanks and gauzy scarves to metallic-printed jeans and swingy summer skirts, these galaxy-themed pieces will have you seeing stars all summer long!

Yipes Stripes! Fall’s Hottest Print is Black and White

Referees, zebras, circus tents…. there are plenty of black-and-white striped things in the world that you wouldn’t want to take inspiration from when it comes to filling out your fall wardrobe, but autumn’s new take on black-and-white stripes will have you rethinking everything you thought you knew about stripes! This season, stripes are making moves away from their casual, summer-festive nautical style and transitioning into a bold, sophisticated night-out look that commands attention. After all, following the resurrection of the polka dot print, it was only a matter of time before stripes followed suit! Stripes are eye-catching, sleek, and surprisingly slimming (when worn right!), and look amazingly chic while still having plenty of character and whimsy. From blazers and sheer tops to clutches and even quirky oxford-inspired flats, we dare you to try and escape black-and-white stripes this season without giving them a try!

Cute & Cropped Spring Jackets, Courtesy of Karen Millen!

Now that it’s officially spring, the season’s festive neons, sweet florals, and candy-colored denim have us looking forward to more sunny weather to come. However, in all our giddy excitement (also known as spring fever), it can be easy to forget that the weather at hand may not exactly lend itself to all the skin-baring, sunny-day styles we’ve been eyeing. The truth is, spring can still get pretty darn chilly, no matter where you are… but that doesn’t mean you have to let the weather ruin your outfit! Just make sure you equip yourself with an equally spring-ready jacket! Lightweight yet statement-making, Karen Millen’s latest spring pieces will complement your look without leaving you stranded in the pre-summer chilliness. Lace details, cheery brights, and bold prints are all fair game, and serve as the perfect transition piece while we wait for the weather to really heat up!

Fresh-Picked Floral Bags For Summer!

In the midst of all the fashion world’s excitement over color-blocked bags and blindingly bright neon satchels, it can be easy to forget about the original festive print! Nothing rings truer to summer than floral does, so if you’re having a hard time embracing the same unbridled enthusiasm towards the season that your fellow fashionistas seem to have, infusing a healthy dose of floral into your handbag arsenal is bound to do the trick! From totes and satchels to hobos and beach-ready bags, a floral handbag is an easy way to add an extra dose of femininity to even the most casual outfits, and can almost instantly transition your all-weather basics like jeans, tanks, and cardigans from tired and dull to festive and spring-ready!

Spring Sandals Get Even Sassier with Printed Platforms

Given the fashion’s love affair with chunky, funky platform soles, as well as their fearlessness when it comes to fanciful prints, I’m stumped as to why printed platforms haven’t hit it big as a leading trend until recently! Whatever the reason for their delay, patterned platforms are here and they’re fabulous, using their large surface area as an advantage… to more easily show off the season’s sexiest prints, of course! If animal prints suit your fancy, these sky-high snake-soled Angeline wedges by Tory Burch go with almost everything given their neutral color palette, while these leopard-soled Nine West shoes put a sultry spin on the classic cork wedge. Polka dots are also huge for spring, so try these cutesy Loeffler Randall Chloe platforms on for size. And of course, the season wouldn’t be complete without a healthy dose of floral prints, so be sure to check out these River Island platforms, or the more tropical-inspired Bali wedges from Theodora & Callum!

Fashion’s Obsession With Leopard Print Lives On!

Spring is right around the corner already, and if you still haven’t found a way to incorporate the year’s most popular print into your wardrobe yet, don’t fret – there’s still time! Leopard print rapidly reemerged on the fashion scene as a print to be proud of, no longer regarded as tacky (when done right, that is!) and the trend doesn’t seem to be showing signs of stopping anytime soon – certainly not before the upcoming spring season uses it to its advantage! Statement-making accessories are a great place to start if you’re looking to jump onboard the leopard trend without going overboard – pretty ballet flats or leopard-inspired shades from Prada stand out but aren’t too loud. A tote is also great – since leopard print is essentially composed of neutral shades, it easily coordinates with solids in your wardrobes and can also be mix-and-matched with contrasting prints if you’re feeling adventurous! A lightweight leopard scarf like this Roberto Cavalli Silk Scarf is an easy way to add leopard to your wardrobe this spring, and of course, a breezy 3/4-sleeve tee is the perfect spring transition piece!

These Python Printed Bags Pack a Punch

It’s hard to avoid animal print these days, whether in the form of fuzzy calf-hair leopard print flats, or literal animal faces emblazoned on the front of woven sweaters. But if you’re not the type to rock loud patterns or whimsically ironic knitwear, don’t fret – you can still get your fill of the printed trend without sacrificing your taste level. Python bags are easy to love because they’re still a neutral, in a way – the print coordinates with nearly everything, plus the pattern itself is slinky and sexy without calling too much attention to itself. If you’re not afraid of some bold contrast, this Lanvin Python Shoulder Bag sports a beautifully pronounced print, with a rocker-chic chain strap to boot, while this Jane August “Murray” Python Handbag boasts a more tame, muted take on the print. And if you like to play ‘Peekaboo’ with your prints, the Fendi Peekaboo Bag from Barneys looks demure on the outside, but opens to reveal a sexy python interior – it also comes in leopard!

Fly Into Fall With Bird-Printed Pieces!

Just because the leaves are dying, the flowers have wilted, and the birds are migrating out of town in preparation for winter, it doesn’t mean your favorite pretty prints have to go into hibernation. Lively prints like florals and birds may typically have an automatic springy feel by default, but you might be surprised at how the latest fall trends have a knack for so seamlessly translating your favorite warm-weather patterns for a stylish summer-to-fall transition. The key to pulling off cheery bird prints when the weather is more on the dreary side is to keep up with fall’s tell-tale silhouettes and trends. If you’ve been on the lookout for the perfect sheer blouse, this Equipment Long Sleeve Button Top incorporates a subtle seagull print that doesn’t look a bit out of season, while the 70’s-inspired long-sleeve dress gets a festive modern update with a crimson bird print. And if you were gutsy enough to pull off printed shorts in the summer, try these bird-printed pants for a cool alternative to solid trousers!
