Fake Bake Flawless Self-Tan Liquid

This weekend marks the start of the summer season.  Right now the whirlwind of pool parties, beach weekend getaways and outdoor activities begins its crazy whirlwind of fun.  Fake Bake introduces their Flawless Self-Tan Liquid to help usher in your golden glow and say good-bye to pasty pale skin.

Fake Bake’s Flawless Self-Tan Liquid is easy to use and apply but contains intense color development just like the pros.  The mitt for application is effortless and the same type that the salons use.  It makes application of Flawless Self-Tan Liquid go on with gliding strokes for an even tan each time.  There is a  dual function cosmetic bronzer that makes application even more simple because it shows-where-it-goes while at the same time giving you an impressive instant tan.  Fast-drying and absorbant it won’t stain your clothes and lasts all day without rubbing off.  It works on all skin tones and types for a gorgeously radiant self-tan.

Josie Maran Helps us Self-Tan in the Shower!

I’m hardly “tanorexic” by any means, but I have to admit – I’ve recently developed an obsession with self-tanner. I just look and feel better when I’m tan – slightly slimmer, healthier, and like I’ve actually gotten some rest on a much-needed vacation (sooo not the case) – plus, it totally puts me in a better mood while I (impatiently) look ahead to summer. But self-tanning doesn’t come easy. You have to pick the perfect product that won’t make you look orange or streaky, then you actually have to perfect the application itself – showering and exfoliating and distributing evenly, then allowing time to dry before you “self-tan” everything you touch. Now, thanks to Josie Maran, could self-tanning really be as easy as taking a shower? The supermodel-turned-beauty-guru has teamed up with QVC to launch her brand-new Argan Glow Self Tanning Body Wash. Simply massage into skin in the shower, wait 30 seconds, and rinse, and color will develop throughout the day. No more standing around in the nude waiting for your color to dry, and no more cheeto-orange hands! It’s brand new, so I haven’t had the chance to test it out myself… but if you end up giving it a whirl, let me know how you like it!

Get The Perfect Faux Glow With “Glow It All” Body Moisturizer by mark.

As many of us know (and may have learned the hard way), achieving the perfect summer complexion is easier said than done. After all, we’re all far too educated about the dangers of the sun’s harmful rays to get our tan on the old-fashioned way (which is a good thing!). However, the alternative – sunless tanning products – may leave you looking like a member of the Jersey Shore cast when not used correctly. Enter your summer skin savior: Glow It All Gradual Glow Body Moisturizer by mark. An all-purpose moisturizing lotion with subtle shimmer and gradual color, this must-have summer product provides us beauty mavens with the most flattering, natural, buildable summer hue with each application. No mess, no streaks, no unpleasant odor, no dark patches in those tricky dry spots, and no unsightly orange sheen! Too good to be true? No way! If Glow It All doesn’t make you look and feel prepared for shorts season, you might just have to stock up on more shorts!

Get Your Glow On All Year Round With a Gradual Self-Tanner

While I wouldn’t say that I’m tanorexic, so to speak, and I never verge on the orange side of way too tan, I have to admit that I do enjoy my summer glow. It makes me look and feel healthier, sexier, thinner, and looks great against my favorite brightly-hued wardrobe pieces. But does it really have to be summer to rock a summer glow? Is being tan strictly a seasonal thing? Technically no, but there is something to be said about using self-tanner in moderation in the off-season! Gradual self-tanners help you get and maintain that subtle glow without showing up at work one day looking an entirely different shade than the day before! Moisturize with a gradual self-tanning lotion and skin will be nourished, soothed, and firm while slowly but surely building an even sun-kissed tone. Let’s face it – unless you’re heading out to the tropics for the holiday season, you have no reason to look like you’ve spent a week at the beach in one go!

Xen-Tan Partners With E! For The Perfect Hollywood-Worthy Sunless Tan

E! already reigns supreme with their coverage of Hollywood glamour on the red carpet, and now the network has been lending its name to beauty brands (like Stila!) and fashion labels (like Adrianna Papell!) to help we non-celebrities channel our inner fashion icon. The latest hit from the E! Live From The Red Carpet collection is its collaboration with Xen-Tan. The Perfect Blend Shimmer Bronzer is designed to help us get our glow on without visiting a salon, and aims to make it easy enough for us amateurs to get a streak-free, natural-looking tan from home! It even has a dial to help customize your tan, so application is disaster-free. Red Carpet frequenters Audrina Patridge, Holly Madison, Karina Smirnoff, and E! correspondent Lisa Rinna all swear by the spray-on blend because it delivers a natural-looking glow that still makes an impact from afar and in photos, and doesn’t have that yucky canned-tan smell of many bronzing mists. If it’s good enough for the notoriously unforgiving red carpet, I’m certainly willing to give it a try!

Take It Slow With a Gradual Self-Tanner

As much as you may crave earning that “authentic” summer glow while basking at the beach or lounging poolside, it’s vital to remember that the only way to tan safely is by doing it completely sun-free! Sure, fake-baking definitely has stigmas associated with it, and of course, no one wants to look orange and streaky (unless you’re dressing up as Snooki for your next costume party), but self-tanner doesn’t have look fake. In fact, if you’re not in a hurry to go bronze in one spritz, and especially if you’re trying to avoid that jarring suddenly-tan contrast that often comes with an overzealous spray tanning session, opt for a gradual self-tanner to help deepen your color in a more buildable way while you moisturize! Gradual tanners are great because they’re subtle but still give great, natural-looking results. Streaks or mistakes don’t show because you’ve built the color over time, allowing you to get your tan on without going overboard in one session, and some, like Too Faced’s Tanning Bed in a Tube, give you a subtle instant glow that washes off, while also building your gradual tan at the same time!

Kate Somerville Tanning Towelettes: Convenient Or Just Kitschy?

It may be a summer no-brainer to play it safe and stick to sunless tanning when it comes to achieving that perfect seasonal glow, but deciding on which method of bronzing is best without the sun’s help takes a bit more extra research. After all, you want something that looks natural, applies evenly, stays put, and most importantly, doesn’t rub off on your clothing (gross)! There’s the option of professional spray tans (but those get expensive and therefore difficult to keep up), lotions, oils, and the less reliable sprays and foams, but have you heard of tanning towelettes? Yes, you read that right — skincare maven Kate Somerville has her very own line of Tanning Towlettes, designed especially to deliver concentrated, uniform color. It’s certainly a unique idea, but the question is — are you brave enough to take them for a test tan?

The tanning towelettes, which come in a pack of 8 for $48 (or, with a Sephora.com exclusive, you can buy them separately for $6 each), are a bit on the pricey side if we’re just experimenting, though the product does have excellent reviews so far! It boasts “effortless,” natural color with a single application, but you could also choose to deepen the color with continued use over the course of a couple days. But be careful — don’t over-tan unwittingly; the color is said to take a few hours to develop, so make sure you remember where you’ve already applied, and let the color reveal itself before you let yourself get too bronzing-happy!

Scott Barnes Body Bling Adds Color & Shimmer Without Streaks

If you haven’t heard of Scott Barnes, it’s certainly not because he’s not worth knowing about. The successful makeup artist has created looks for the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Mariska Hargitay, Kim Kardashian, and has recently released a book, About Face, which gives insight on the secrets behind his most famous beauty transformations. He believes that the key to a gorgeous look is first and foremost a healthy, glowing complexion, and his widely popular Body Bling is what he considers to be the perfect way to achieve it without harmful rays or an unflattering orange hue.

What’s great about Scott Barnes Body Bling is that it provides shimmer and subtle tint without staining skin like many self-tanners — this one washes off easily with soap and water! You don’t necessarily need to shimmer 24/7, so Body Bling works to give you a glow only when you want it — a special event, a hot night out, a beach party, etc. — no streaking, no staining, no ending up looking like a Jersey Shore castmember. It comes in both Original and Platinum, the former which provides deeper color and subtle shimmer, and the latter for fair-skinned girls who just want sun-reflecting sparkle. Either way, the formula works to enhance any complexion to go from winter dullness to brilliant summer skin!

Try a Megan Fox Tan

Use This Product for an Easy Summer Bronze

Megan Fox looked amazing this past weekend in her purple frock and even, golden tan, so we’re investigating a new product that spritzes on, and another that can give you a Megan Fox golden glow.

Our newest discovery to provide summertime bronzing? Dex New York. They recently marked down their awesome instaBronze product from $34 to $29, and you can mist it on for what they call a “Caribbean Glow.” Megan Fox’s pretty color was deep enough to look more than sun-kissed, but not so fake it looked orange. While they recommend spraying it on (“no need to use your hands”), I’ve found that smoothing it on gives you more control over your faux tan.

If you’re freaked out by self-tanners and nothing will change your mind, get a hint from Megan Fox’s natural coloring and try Dex’s Mineral Glow, which is a shimmering veil you can apply for the night out, and then rinse off. It’s great to highlight cheekbones, but don’t forget about the shoulders as well!

Off to create a Megan Fox glow. . . do you have any self-tanning tips for us here at Limelife?
