Vintage Pick Of The Day: U is for Ungaro

Trina Turk launched her colorful fashion brand in 1995 and says there are no bad colors, just bad color combinations. And while so many women despair that they just don’t know how to put colors together, I believe you instinctively know what colors look good on you and which colors flatter you most. It’s all about trusting yourself more and worrying less.

Of course, you can always rely on the experts to help you out. Ease your suffering by choosing prints that pop by designers who know their way around color. For instance, today’s VPOD features an ultra-colorful and ultra-fabulous 1980s vintage silk skirt by Ungaro. With its high waist, side pockets, four buttons and wicked print, simply add a tee or blouse in black or white and you’ll be set to go.

It’s a chic and colorful find for a vintage fashionista!

American Apparel All-in-One High Waisted Skirt

aaskirt1
I’ve written before about my love affair with American Apparel, specifically about their convertible dress, the “Le Sac” dress. My latest obsession is the convertible high-waisted flared skirt/dress. It also comes in a pencil skirt/dress cut, but I find the flare cut to be more flattering on most people and the pencil dress can be form-fitting and hug in all the wrong place!

This particular flair skirt/dress offers a number of options – from a dress to a high-waisted skirt to a regular-waisted skirt – there are definitely more possibilities than just the ones shown on the card when you first purchase the skirt, but those will  get you started!

Swing into Spring With Short Full Skirts

Short, full skirts are a big trend this season and there are many ways to
wear them to work and on the weekends. Here are 3 ideas:

  1. Wear a simple fitted shirt over the waist band and then add a belt at
the waist if you want to dress it up further, skip the belt if you prefer a
    relaxed casual look.
  2. Tuck in a pretty blouse. You can also add a belt at the waistband here
    if you like.
  3. Pair a belted jacket (great for adding curves) or little cardigan over
a tank top or tee shirt.
