Sneakers are having a major moment this season, and if you’ve been looking for a reason to jump on the bandwagon, Vans’ latest collaboration collection is here to offer up some killer kicks that won’t have you feeling buyer’s remorse. The classic American footwear brand has teamed up with Los Angeles-based brand Della to create a socially-responsible capsule line of sneakers and matching accessories. You see, Della does more than produce eye-catching prints and patterns; the brand is known for employing women in developing villages in Ghana and using sustainable textiles found in the West African region. Vans’ collaboration collection, which includes one-of-a-kind takes on each of the brand’s classic shoe silhouettes, donates a large portion of the proceeds to provide more jobs, as well as literacy training and healthcare benefits for women in need and their families.

Collaboration Crush! The Man Repeller Teams Up with Superga

While I’ve never had the guts to go right out and try it, I’ve always envied The Man Repeller’s effortless knack for fearless mixing and matching. Skirts over pants, muscle tees tucked into pencil skirts, plaids with metallics over florals – how does she do it? Luckily, Leandra Medine’s latest style venture is something I can easily jump right into, free from any fear of committing a fashion faux pas. The Man Repeller x Superga collaboration collection boasts a series of TMR-approved kicks, perfect for stomping around the city. From metallic boucle sneakers to velvet high tops (Leandra’s personal favorite), it’s hard not to love these go-with-everything tennies. In fact, I might just have to do something crazy like pair them with a sweater dress or something. Or, you know… something substantially more mix-and-matchy! Scoop up a pair for yourself in person at Fred Segal stores, or online!

Are You a Fan of the Platform Sneaker Trend?

When I was in middle school (oh so long ago), platform sneakers were everywhere. In fact, I’m pretty sure no one even wore flat-soled tennis shoes (well, save for the guys of course). Maybe it was just the late 90’s era doing its best to fit in as many questionable fads as possible before ushering in the 00’s, or maybe it was the influence of the Spice Girls in their heyday (probably an epic combination of both) – either way, casual platform sneaks were the way to go! Now, thanks to the popularity of wedge sneakers in recent months, platform sneakers are now making a serious comeback. Mixing the comfort of your favorite casual shoe with the added, elongating height of a platform sandal or pump, these shoes are certainly bold, but they’re not the craziest thing we’ve seen over the past year. Suede, spikes, studs, metallic finishes, funky soles, you name it – it’s clear that the jazzed-up sneakers are here to stay… but are you diggin’ these revamped, chunky-soled platform versions, or do you prefer last season’s wedge styles?

We all have our fashion favorite comfy work-shirt that we love wearing especially on the weekends. Current Elliott’s latest work-shirt as seen on Rihanna is just the one you need to look cute, sexy (if you wear it unbuttoned!) and comfy. The Current Elliott Perfect Shirt in Pier features a button-down collared denim shirt with buttoned patch pockets at front and epaulet detail on the shoulders. It’s 100% Cotton and made in the USA.(Yay!) We own so many pairs of CE jeans and can attest to how comfortable their clothes are. The CE Snap Love jean jacket is also fabulous! (be sure to size down so it’s nice and fitted)

We love how Rihanna is wearing the shirt although most of us will need a tank under it.The shirt looks great paired with jeans, cutoff shorts (Current/Elliott The Girlfriend Short in Grey Cloud), white skinny jeans, floral jeans or a flowered skirt. We’d pair with a fabulous pair of Jeffrey Campbell Tonic Sandals or Jeffrey Campbell’s Malta Sneaker in Fuchsia Neon and you’re set to walk out the door looking ever so cool! Click the link to indulge Current Elliott and Jeffrey Campbell and be sure to view the collections.

Superga’s Spring Sneakers For The Row!

Color us unsurprised, but Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen strike another style touchdown with their recent collaboration with sneaker brand Superga! The fashionable twins’ luxury casualwear brand, The Row, and Superga already seem like a match made in collabo heaven on paper alone, and the fruits of their joining forces – a series of linen and cashmere sneakers – certainly don’t disappoint! Come springtime, I’m always looking for a comfy yet casual shoes (that don’t make me look like I’m on the way to the gym!) to serve as my on-the-move spring-and-summer footwear staple. Vacations, errands, shopping, long walks out on the town – these pairs from the Superga for The Row collection are here to keep us casual-cute and comfy while we stay on our feet. I have to say, the breathable linen pairs seem a bit more warm-weather friendly than their cashmere counterparts… but either way they’re a luxe way to upgrade your tennis shoe collection this season!

As the weather heats up and the need for laidback-cute casualwear increases, whimsical spring staples are starting to become commonplace! Floral blazers, pastel-hued jeans, and patterned sneakers are cropping up all over the place, and now Kate Spade is jumping on the festive shoe trend to boot with a limited-edition partnership with Swedish shoe brand Tretorn. The canvas ‘Trey’ sneaker, available in three colors, is the perfect comfy way to complete your casual spring outfit – rock them with a pair of cuffed jeans and a gingham blouse or mix and match patterns with a pair of printed pants, if you dare! Emblazoned with Australian artist Florence Broadhurst’s signature print, these sneakers make for a fun yet upscale take on the tennis shoe trend without screaming ‘designer,’ but fellow Kate Spade fans will certainly appreciate the recognizable floral print! At $98 a pair, they’re a worthy splurge for the sake of stylish springtime strolling!

Would You Wear a Pair of Wedge Sneakers?

Despite my love for everything sparkly, embellished, lacy, Hello Kitty emblazoned, and feminine-fabulous, I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a tiny bit of a closet sneaker-head. Believe it or not, I’ve got myself some candy-colored Nike Dunks and more than a couple pairs of Creative Recreation kicks mixed in with my platform heels and glittery flats… but despite my broad tastes, I don’t often jump on-board with sneakers that try to fuse in some feminine flair in the form of a heel. I mean… we’ve all seen those heinous sneaker-inspired boots or sneakers with heels, and we’ve all thought the same thing: who actually wears those things?! Some things just aren’t meant to mate! But apparently some leading names in the fashion world seem pretty convinced that wedge sneakers are a trend that’s going to make it big by springtime… and I’m not sure how I feel about it. Take footwear brand Ash for example. More known for their grungy-chic rocker boots and studded fare, they’re channeling our inner hip hop diva with a slew of sneaker wedges, with loads more released for the upcoming spring season. I mean, I’d certainly be more likely to wear wedge sneakers than stiletto sneakers… but I still can’t decide if they’re potentially cool or just plain hideous. What do you think – would you wear a pair of these heightened sneakers?
