Urban Outfitters Summer Sale: Stock Up on Your Last-Minute Music Festival Essentials!

Sure, we may have left EDC and Coachella in the dust, but there are still plenty of summer music fests to enjoy this season – namely Lollapalooza and Outside Lands, just to name a couple! And while you may have sworn off shopping for summer trends for the rest of the season (just for the sake of your bank account of course), it’s hard to say no to a killer sale. Urban Outfitters is letting shoppers take $20 off $100 with promo code TOTALLY20, now through the end of July! Of course, it’s for insiders only (ooh, exclusive), so click here to access the sale! Check out some of my personal summer music festival favorites in the links below, but remember, they’re just suggestions! The whole site is on sale (excluding gift cards, bike and print shops), so shop away! Offer expires July 31st!

Make a Splash in This Season’s Sporty-Inspired Swimwear

Floral, ruffles, studs, and more – many of this season’s swim trends are about as girly as girly can get! But if frills and flowers and sparkles aren’t your thing (or you’re just plain sick of ‘em), not all hope is lost, and your swimsuit style doesn’t have to cramped all summer! Sport-inspired swimwear is making waves this season, and modern takes on the athletic aesthetic are definitely designed for fashion, not function! The tomboy look has never looked better, as demonstrated by this summer’s array of color-blocked bikinis and zipped-up one-pieces that certainly doesn’t skimp on the sex appeal. Who knew that scuba wear could look so sultry? Shop some of my favorite sporty swimwear in the links below!

Fancy Feet: Neutral Heels Get the Patterned Treatment!

While I can always appreciate a statement-making pair of shoes in a sexy pop of color, especially as the weather heats up, I have to be honest – I’m a neutral-loving girl at heart! I don’t know if it’s the built-in versatility (you can’t hate a sexy pair of sandals that literally go with everything), or if it’s the way the nude hues elongate my legs (and that’s hard to do!), but I always find myself gravitating towards neutral shoes. But just because a pair of shoes plays it safe in the color department doesn’t mean that they’re totally blah – this season, our sandal style is keeping us on our toes in the form of eye-catching patterned heels. From slinky snake print to tribal-inspired basket weave textures, these look-at-me heels keep things fun and interesting while still coordinating perfectly with almost everything in your wardrobe! Check out some of my favorites in the links below!

Summer Celestial Prints Are Out of This World!

It’s not quite Independence Day yet, but patriotism never goes out of style, right? Whether you’re looking for the perfect outfit to watch the fireworks this summer, or just want to add some more trendy patterns to your overflowing wardrobe, this season’s newest celestial-themed prints are where it’s at! Modern star patterns take the over-the-top cuteness out of the star-shaped silhouette and modernize it in light of the fashion world’s obsession with micro prints and patterns. Forget springy florals or tried-and-true ikat patterns – star prints are fresh and fun with a whimsical, dreamy quality, and manage to be youthful and stylish at the same time. From silky tanks and gauzy scarves to metallic-printed jeans and swingy summer skirts, these galaxy-themed pieces will have you seeing stars all summer long!

Love ‘Em or Hate ‘Em: Tall Gladiator Sandals

Gladiator sandals have been a summer go-to for style mavens everywhere for several years now – the bold, strappy, tough-girl-chic look is perfect for edging up any flirty sundress or girly warm-weather look. The Grecian-inspired look has already been modernized plenty of times in recent years, with the help of embellishments, hardware, metallics, and more, and now, the latest tall takes on the trend are going pretty extreme in the more literal direction.. and let’s face it – they’re not for everybody. Cage-like, ready to kick some serious butt, and – dare I say it? – dominatrix-y, these tall sandal-boot hybrids aren’t playin’ around, and we’re not sure whether we should just go with it or cover our eyes and run in the opposite direction. That said, we’ve seen some edgy celebs rockin’ the look… we just don’t know if we’re quite cool enough. What do you think – would you wear these tall gladiator sandals? Let us know in the comments!

Slashers Take Distressed Cut-Off Shorts To a Whole New Level!

Although it’s almost time to hang up our summery hats and retire all our sunny-weather wardrobe staples until next year (say it ain’t so!), one last summer super-fad has managed to squeeze in before we shift our focus to fall goodies. Slashers – or in other words, super-distressed, slashed jean shorts – show off the extremest of denim cut-offs as they’ve faded, evolved, and gotten even more creative during the course of the season. Whether tie-dyed, dip-dyed, high-waisted, studded, daringly short, or just plain slashed to death, slashers are bringing out the DIY diva in all of us. Of course, if you’re not the crafty type (even when the trend begs for purposeful imperfections!), plenty of our favorite brands have you covered with their own fully distressed masterpieces that are ready to be worn without any further artistic effort on your part! Pair with a flirty blouse or cozy sweater for the perfect casually “undone” look, or use them to top off your bikini bottoms during your last beach days of the summer!

Peplum Tanks For Instant Feminine Flair!

The whole “fit-and-flared” trend that took summer sundresses by storm is starting to branch out to invade everything from our tops, skirts, and jackets to boot! Peplum has always been a rather tricky shape to pull off – How much flare is too flared? How do I choose a shape that still flatters my own proportions? – but these peplum tanks make mastering the trend a cinch! Add an instant dose of girliness to an otherwise tomboy-chic ensemble by pairing one of these chic tanks with some tailored shorts and a cropped blazer, or rock with your favorite pair of colored or coated jeans. Easy-peasy! Not only does it help cinch in your waist to enhance your figure (and provide extra wiggle room if you’ve gone a little too overboard with all that yummy summer party food!), but the skirted style also adds effortless chicness in a way that’s still comfortable!

Friendship Bracelets Go Luxe With Frieda & Nellie!

You’ve had to be living under a rock to not have noticed the fashion world’s resurrected obsession with friendship bracelets. Colorful woven trinkets that bring us back to our summer camp days (yet maybe a bit more nicely crafted), these braided baubles have been upgraded for the modern fashionista to include everything from rhinestones and charms to tassels and chains. And while you may not have the patience to channel your grade-school dexterity and weaving supplies, don’t worry – the experts are more than willing to do the work for you (and it’s probably better that way)! Frieda & Nellie Jewelry, named after the crafty grandmothers of designers Stacy Herzog and Sarah Reid, boasts a wide array of bracelets, necklaces, hair pieces, earrings and more, that reinvent the classic woven style by incorporating and intertwining vintage metal trinkets into their designs. Each bracelet is hand-crafted and completely one-of-a-kind, with new unique pieces being added to their online shop constantly! Check out the full collection of gorgeous bracelets on their official site!
