Fall/Winter’s Hottest Designer Collaborations

There are so many fabulous high/low designer collaborations this year, it’s getting hard to keep track! Here are the collections we’re coveting:
1. Jimmy Choo for H&M
This is probably the most anticipated designer collaboration of the season. Jimmy Choo has designed a line of shoes, clothing, accessories, and menswear. The line hits stores Nov. 14, but here’s a sneak peek from the lookbook.

2. Rodarte for Target
While not as well-known and established as Jimmy Choo, Rodarte has quickly garnered a solid following of fashion-savvy celebrities and consumers. The collection for Target will consist of 55 pieces that are modern, feminine, and trendy. The line will be available starting Dec. 20, so save some holiday money to buy yourself a present!

3. Opening Ceremony and Keds
The result will launch at Opening Ceremony in December, and the sneakers will retail for $125 each. Here’s a preview from Style.com’s fashion blog, Stylefile. The animal print is exotic for sneakers – wear a pair with jeans and a black tank for a slightly punk rock vibe.

4. Pierre Hardy for Gap
The collection of fall boots (the designer’s fourth for Gap) launched in stores last week. Here is a photo of two pairs available via racked.com – they look both comfortable AND chic, always a winning combination!

LA Fashion Week—Cerre’s Cool Collective

2009_10_21_cerre
A hand-cut leather jacket from Cerre fall/winter 2009

For spring/summer 2010, Cerre opted to show a series of short films at its Hollywood store at 1647 North Las Palmas, culling together one of the most stylish groups of attendees I’ve seen thus far during LA Fashion Week (or rather, month). The dim-lit ambiance set an appealing mood, but, unfortunately, was not great for photos. I recommend going to the boutique to check out designers Flavie and Clayton Webster’s collection for yourself, where fall/winter 2009 and spring/summer 2010 were both out for the seeing and feeling.

Pieces are meticulously constructed (check the gorgeous leather jacket with hand-cut back above) with interesting fabric combinations (for instance, leather and mesh on a skirt, adding a hint of transparency). Prices reflect the high-end materials and small-run production, exclusive to a few shops in the US, Europe and Asia. Very lovely.

Anna Sheffield Jewelry Collection for Target

You might have noticed that things are taking a turn to inspiration from vintage and dandy inspired looks this season.  The female dandy look is everywhere. To keep from looking too masculine accessorize with feminine details such as frilly blouses and vintage accessories. One designer whose jewelry is spot on for the dandy look is Anna Sheffield. We love the  Cuckoo Clock Ring and Bird And Scissor Earring from the Anna Sheffield® for Target® collection.

Target has continued it’s designer masstidge trend with a jewelry collection from Anna Sheffield. Anna is a New York based jewelry designer who is originally from New Mexico. Anna’s aesthetic is inspired by “the spare, hewn and intrinsic beauty was imparted by the mores and surrounds of the Southwest- seemingly disparate influences culminate in her unique vantage point,” according to her website. Raised in such diverse surroundings as Saudi Arabia and California, the designer was trained various artistic fields including blacksmithing and costume design. Anna’s haute-costume line of jewelry is branded under the name “Bing Bang” which includes a bespoke custom collection crafted with materials including sterling, gold and precious stones. Heirloom, keepsake and talisman objects are recurring themes in Anna’s collections. Anna has also collaborated with fashion designers Philip Lim and Marc Jacobs. The Target collaboration is one of her most recent. Retailers carrying the line include: Barney’s New York, United Arrows Tokyo, Joyce Hong Kong, Le Bon Marche Paris.

Anna Sui brings the Gossip Girl look to Target

anna-sui-gossip-girl-dresse

This is the thing we’ve been waiting on all summer long… the Gossip-Girl-inspired collection from Anna Sui, for Target. Target has really upped their game over the past couple of years, and they’ve still managed to keep prices reasonable, even though it has to be said that this collection is pricier than most of the things they offer.

There are a lot of separates and other cute pieces in this collection, but the real attraction is the selection of dresses, most of which will work well for just about any body shape.

MasstigeWatch! Anna Sheffield for Target

look_2

I’ve started to develop an expensive habit: jewelry. Much like my philosophy with clothing, I’ve started to buy the best jewelry I can afford–fewer pieces of the nice stuff, instead of a lot of cheap junk. And while my budget doesn’t take me too far, one of my favorite jewelry designers is Anna Sheffield–her Bing Bang line has a vintage-inspired aesthetic, with a lot of tiny charms and mixed chains. And while Anna had a short-lived line last year with Urban Outfitters, called Bee 23, she is back with an even better masstige collaboration, this time with Target. Called Anna Sheffield, the line features necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings, with prices ranging from a very affordable $19.99 to $79.99, and I’m happy to say, it’s very true to the spirit of her signature collection.

I love how many of her necklaces are asymmetrical, like the one in the middle above, but there’s always an element of femininity, like the ribbon and heart-locket necklaces to either side.

Designer Collab-Fab! Erickson Beamon for Target

Designer collabortions do so many things for the wallet, making the unattainable, attainable, the unaffordable, affordable. The deal gets even sweeter once these designer collaboration items go on sale, as found below. I’ve picked my favorite jewelry items from the Vera Wang for Kohl’s and the Erickson Beamon collection for Target – get them before they are gone forever (or end up on eBay)!

Save on Colorful Skinny Jeans from Target

skinny-jeans-target

I keep coming back to Target for all my recessionista needs – they just seem to have the best stylish basics at reasonable prices. For trendy styles like these skinny jeans, Target is the perfect place to shop. Who knows if skinny jeans will be here to stay, but how can you resist these adorable candy colored denim styles for only $19.99 a pair?

I saw some similar jeans in a much higher-end store for ten times the price, and to be honest I think these look just as good. And they’re so comfortable! Pair these sweet skinnies with ballet flats, Havaianas flip flops or platform pumps.

Target—Bing Bang Jewelry Designer Anna Sheffield Launches Collection August 30

2009_08_10_as_target2

When news hit that jewelry designer Anna Sheffield was designing a collection for Target, I will admit to some pretty high expectations, considering my admiration for Bing Bang, and I’m pleased with what I see from the photos of the line, landing in-store August 30 and ranging from $19.99-$79.99, per the release.

Of particular note is the multi-strand necklace in rose gold and silver with an ornate clasp for $69.99, which will be an online exclusive; a sweet birdy ring with faux crystal for $19.99; a ribbon-ed scissor locket necklace for crafty types for $49.99; and a charm bracelet in rose and yellow gold and silver with dangling faux crystal and heart-shaped lock for $39.99. Happily, Sheffield offers ample bang for the buck here.
