Laser Pegs Construction Toys Light Up Their World

Laser Pegs are a unique toy construction set that lights up using three AA batteries or an AC/DC power adapter.  Each piece feeds the next piece a low voltage current, lighting it up as you construct your masterpiece.   A bright, high quality LED light is incased in each clear ABS plastic building piece.  The lights are designed to run about 100,000 hours, giving this toy a very long life expectancy.  Use the building models or your own imagination to create one-of-a-kind lighted works of art.  Ten different shapes of Laser Pegs are available in kits or accessories packs.  The latest kit, The World of Bugs allows users to build and learn about a variety of bugs.  It comes with 84  Laser Pegs including four new shapes.  18 different models can be built around the bug theme and the included manual features facts about each bug created.  Laser Pegs are recommended for boys and girls ages 7 and up.  Laser Peg sets start at around $20.

Teacup Piggies Make Kids Squeal with Delight

When I think of Spring, I think of baby animals. Calves, chicks, bunnies and piglets all come to mind but it’s that latter that can make kids squeal with delight.  Teacup Piglets are a new interactive toy made by Toy Teck.  Each 3″ baby piglet comes with it’s own teacup, accessories and birth certificate.  Teacup piglets have their own special characteristics and moods.  They are voice activated and when you pet them, they oink!  Dress them up in sunglasses or bows and feed them with tiny little bottles.  Additional fashion accessories such can be purchased separately as well as a variety of playsets.   Teacup Piggies would make an adorable addition to Easter baskets this spring!

Neighborhood Custom Map Play Mat Is a Great Gift for Kids

As much as boys like to play with matchbox cars and buildings, this is a perfect custom gift to order for Christmas.  Boardstiff, an Etsy shop, will print out your very own neighborhood on a vinyl mat.  Won’t your child adore driving around his own neighborhood?  You could even make wood or cardboard houses and buildings to place on the mat for houses and building that are in your neighborhood.

Tegu Magnetic Wood Blocks Defy Gravity

Building blocks are a classic toy that every child loves.  The open-ended type of creative play is great for their development.  Tegu has come up with a unique twist on the traditional building block by adding magnetic connections that let you create structures that defy gravity.  Further setting this toy apart from others is their heirloom quality and eco-friendly nature.  Made from sustainably sourced eco-friendly Honduran wood, Tegu blocks will last for generations.  They do not contain lead or plastic and are finished with a water-based lacquer.

Manufactured in Honduras, Tegu creates dozens of jobs while working to replenish the rainforest and providing child education.

The Original Set of Tegu blocks includes 52 blocks in four shapes- 20 cubes, 16 long planks, 10 short planks and 6 jumbo planks.  It retails for around $100.

Fun Kids Blocks to Color With Chalk

Kids love drawing with chalk on a chalk board, so this creative set of blocks is a perfect gift for any child… of any age.  Really, I’m anxious to give these a try!  Build and draw … draw and build!

The Colorem Block set comes with 5 water – soluble chalk crayons enable children to draw their imaginary world on the maple wood cubes, which are varnished with high quality blackboard paint. In no time, colourful cats or fabulous magical fishes are created. A quick wipe with a wet sponge and the cubes are clean and ready for something else. How about a self-drawn memory game or an alphabet game?

Melissa & Doug Ice Cream Parlor & Pizza Party Sets Make a Pairing

As a mom, one of the neatest things about watching my kids grow up is seeing their imaginations develop.  I love toys that encourage their creativity and offer open-ended play.  Melissa & Doug makes high quality toys that do just that.  The Melissa & Doug Ice Cream Parlor and the Melissa & Doug Pizza Party sets make a perfect pairing.  Children can whip up a pizza with their favorite toppings, “slice” it and serve it.  Afterward, they can take a trip to the ice cream parlor and scoop out a yummy ice cream cone for dessert.  Kids can play with these toys over and over.  You’ll be surprised to see how many variations on this theme your kids will come up with.  Prepare yourself to eat more than your share fair share of pizza and ice cream!

Leapfrog Fridge Phonics Helps Mom Get Dinner on the Table

Cooking dinner with two little ones running around is no easy task.  My son got a Leapfrog Fridge Phonics set for his second birthday.  Not only has it been a good distraction that keeps him busy, but it has been an excellent learning tool as well.

The set comes with 26 magnetic letters, a magnetic letter reader and the three double A batteries it takes to operate it.  The magnet reader states the name of the letter and the sound/s that it makes when the letter is inserted. It also sings a learning song for each letter of the alphabet. The music note button activates the Alphabet song to help teach children their A-B-C’s.

I love that the set attaches right to the refrigerator and keep my son close by.  I can talk to my kids about letters, the sounds they make and which words start with certain letters while I get dinner on the table.
