Who says exchanging Valentines is just for kids? Remember how much fun it used to be to give and receive those tiny little envelopes filled with love notes? Recreate that feeling by passing out your own grown-up Valentines to your friends and family. You know grandma and grandpa would be thrilled to be the recipient of a personalized card from Shutterfly with a photo of your children. Don’t stop there. A Shutterfly card is sure to brighten the day of an aunt, uncle, close friend, sister, brother, your child’s school teacher, piano teacher, the list goes on and on. At only $1.49 for a 5 x 7 folded card you can make one for all of your loved ones. Spread the love!
This Valentine’s Day, whether you’re searching for the perfect gift or just looking to look cute and festive (but not campy) on your hot V-Day date, pink is the word. Instead of looking like a human conversation heart with a full-on magenta outfit, consider the more understated route — festive-colored accessories in the form of a pink clutch! Go for a literal approach with Coach’s adorable Waverly Hearts Wristlet, but if cutesie prints aren’t your style, this pleated candy-colored clutch by Elaine Turner makes for a brilliant pop of color to go with your signature little black dress. This luxurious satin Valentino clutch plays it subtle with a soft champagne pink to balance its bold bow-embellished shape, but if you’re not one to play it safe with color, go all-out with fuchsia and silver sequins courtesy of Betsey Johnson! And if you’re looking for something on-trend that can take you beyond Valentine’s Day, opt for snake print clutch that’s hot for spring in a bold girlie color, like this magenta clutch from Rebecca Minkoff!

If everything you know about Brit-based beauty brand Illamasqua is what you’ve learned from what Sephora carries, then you’re at least familiar with the fact that “color-shy” would not be an accurate descriptor. With company roots stemming from the 1920’s club scene, it’s no wonder that the costume-y brand has evolved over the years to be wearable, yet still undeniably bold — boasting a collection of slick, sticky glosses, edgy nail shades, and opaque cream shadows with seriously impressive color pay-off, whether chrome, metallic, or rainbow-bright. It’s no surprise then, that when it comes to Valentine’s Day, the brand is not about soft pinks and romantic rosy hues. We’re talkin’ passionate reds, inky blacks, and stark white shades — imagine a love-scorned Queen of Hearts for inspiration… if she actually had a heart, that is.
The ‘Throb’ collection for V-Day 2011 is a 5-piece mini collection of 2 lip colors and 3 nail lacquers, meant to highlight a woman’s most seductive feature (her lips, of course) with a fierce manicure to match. While the nail varnishes — Throb (red), Load (white), and Scorn (black) — aren’t shades we haven’t seen before, I’m inspired to mimic the model’s three-toned Valentine’s-inspired French manicure! And the lip shades (Succubus gloss and Sangers lipstick) are such a juicy true red, even I’m swayed to stray from my signature taupe gloss!

What’s Haute Magazine features gifts for nice and naughty girls in its Valentine’s Day gift guide
Valentine’s is a fun event for children, and most all schools and day cares celebrate it in one way or another. I know that my preschooler loves to receive mail and likes to play post office as well. So, needless to say she is very excited at the concept of exchanging Valentine’s Day cards with her classmates. This year she is making cards for her classmates with pink paper cards, white paper doilies, and various heart related rubber stamps, tissue paper squares and glitter glue. We are doing a few each day, and once she gets bored her nanny or I end up getting into the act.
Where will all of these little Valentine’s cards go in the classroom? I asked myself. When I was a kid, our teachers taped a paper bag onto the back of our chairs. Today, Valentine’s is much more elaborate, as I spotted some adorable child-sized Valentine’s mail boxes created to be used for card exchanges.
