The Limited: Travel Suit (plus coupon)

Limited_travel_suit_3 If you're like me, then you hate wearing suits. I could probably live in jeans and tops. I find most suits to be stuffy, restrictive, and many of them wrinkle really easily! If you haven't heard about them already, you must check out The Limited's Travel Suits. They're made from polyester, viscose and lycra blend and they're machine washable! Yes, you can wash and dry these suits at home ladies. No dry cleaning, no hand washing and hanging dry, nope, none of that mess. Wash them in your washing machine and dry in your clothes dryer. Toss the suit in your closet, in your luggage or on your body and go!

The suit separates are reasonably priced and wrinkle-resistant. There's only a few days left, but treat yourself to discounted suits with this 30% off coupon (expires Feb. 3rd). Typically, I write about products that you can find at TheFind.com, but The Limited doesn't sell online, so you'll have to locate a store near you to find these amazing travel suits. What are you waiting for? It's time to go shopping!

Combatting Winter Time Blues

Winter is a time when people tend to feel blue (aka depressed). While it's often not a clinical depression, the happiness that many of us know when the weather is great tends to slip away when the skies are gray and cloudy. It's cold outside, sometimes rainy or snowy and exercise may subside during the colder months. With all those agitators, who wouldn't feel a little blue?!?

Red_sweater Combat the blues by dressing to impress! You don't need somewhere special to go in order to dress impressively...dress for yourself! When you're feeling blue, skip dark and drab colors. Go for bright yellows, pinks and reds to liven up your day. Put on clothes that fit you well and make you look your best. Somehow wearing bright yellow sweats won't make you feel better. Pair a brightly colored top with your best fitting jeans or skirt, a cute pair of shoes, some flashy accessories and you're good to go. If Pencil_skirt you need a little attention once you're dressed to impress, take a trip to your local mall and watch heads turn as you go by. That will definitely put a smile on your face and warm your heart. While you're there, buy yourself something cute! A little retail therapy goes a long way.

For dinner, cook up your favorite meal or go to your favorite restaurant. They say that a way to a man's heart is through his stomach, right? Well, if that's true then you should be able to brighten up your day (or someone else's day, for that matter) with a great meal! Just avoid turning to a pint of ice cream. It really won't make you feel better. On the converse, it will probably make you feel sick! But I've digressed.

Finally, call a close friend or family member who you haven't touched base with for a while. Bridging the gap in time since you last spoke is sure to warm your heart and make you feel good. Good friends and close family members are great for making you forget your problems. And to me, feeling blue is a big problem! Even if it is only temporary.

TheFind.com Announces Powerful, New Local Search Capabilities – a Boon to Last-minute Holiday Shoppers Looking for the Complete Holiday Shopping Experience

The Comprehensive and Complete Shopping Search Engine Integrates both Local and Universal Online Shopping within a Single Website

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--TheFind, Inc., the leading shopping search engine and web destination for discovering lifestyle goods, today introduced new local search capabilities that provide users with the ability to find products from local retailers.

Also new on TheFind is interactive maps that pinpoint a store’s location and show store contact information and website links. In addition, shoppers can use TheFind’s integrated in-store availability checking feature across the set of merchants that support this capability. Lastly, TheFind provides integrated marketing areas for promotional offers from local merchants such as coupons and other deals, to help drive in-store purchases.

Local search is one of the fastest growing areas of search engine technology, and integration with “brick and mortar” stores and location-specific data to facilitate in-store purchases is seen as the “last mile” in search. A recent study found that 86 percent of those surveyed used the Internet to find a local business from which to shop. TheFind is the first shopping search engine to merge these two consumer needs for online shopping and offline shopping research all in one single website.

“While there are a number of shopping sites that offer local search capabilities to varying degrees, with this added capability, we believe TheFind brings the most comprehensive and complete local shopping search to the market. TheFind is now the first shopping search engine to seamlessly integrate online universal shopping with local shopping results to most closely align with how consumers use the Internet,” said Siva Kumar, co-founder and CEO for TheFind.

“These new local features are an added bonus around the holidays, as shopping days begin to dwindle and consumers start to hurry to complete their gift lists. Leveraging TheFind.com, consumers can shop at home first and find products at stores nearby, so they can pick up the merchandise themselves, quickly and easily, avoiding costly rush shipping charges,” added Kumar.

The new, local search capabilities enable shoppers to:

    * Search for products available through local retail outlets. For example, a search for UGG boots in and around Miami would show store locations that are within 25 miles of the shopper’s location. Consumers can easily adjust the search area to comprise a 40- or 50-mile radius, if desired.

  • Immediately identify local retail outlets near you that carry desired items. After searching for a product on TheFind, search results will display items from both online retailers and local retail outlets – with local stores clearly identified via a “Local” icon.
  • Check in-store availability. For select outlets supporting this capability, TheFind enables shoppers to see which nearby stores have a particular item in-stock. Additionally, all listings for local retailers have phone numbers listed so busy shoppers can call to check in-stock status.
  • Quickly and easily determine which retail outlets offering the desired items are closest in proximity. For every search, TheFind graphically maps all the local brick and mortar stores carrying the items of interest. Consumers can use the map to determine which location is the closest to them, saving time and resources. The site also provides street addresses and phone numbers for each store location.
  • Compare each store’s offerings and obtain the very best deal. TheFind puts a wealth of information at users’ fingertips to enable shoppers to assess the total overall cost of goods. TheFind alerts shoppers to various considerations such as sale items and promotions and driving distance of retail outlets, so they can make purchasing decisions based on their individual preferences and criteria. Integration of online prices and local offers helps consumers determine the best possible options.

The new local search capabilities come on the heels of other new enhancements to TheFind.com, including the addition of mini malls, enabling consumers to shop specific types of outlets from boutiques or well-known department stores, and even shops located within famous shopping destinations such as 5th & Madison (in New York) and Rodeo Drive (in Beverly Hills).

TheFind.com crawls more than 500,000 stores on the Web to find more than 200 million products across all shopping categories. Its unmatched Web search ability includes access to unique and hard-to-find boutiques, brand stores and hip, must-have products. TheFind.com’s objective approach offers shoppers search results which are ranked by natural popularity, instead of offering results influenced by paid placements.

Who's Boots Are Made for Walkin'?

I was out shopping a few weeks ago and found a pair of brown suede boots that I really liked, BUT the store didn't have my size. So, I went home and searched on TheFind.com and found them right away (no, I'm not kidding). I was really excited to find them for half the retail price, no shipping, no taxes. Imagine my luck! I ordered them and anxiously waited for their arrival.Boots_2

I'll fast forward through the boring details. Basically two weeks passed, I called the company several times and was given story after story as to why my boots hadn't shipped yet. The last call I made, the customer service rep told me that the boots were no longer in stock. Needless to say, I was pretty shocked by this news. I politely asked the rep when someone was going to tell me this and he said he was wondering the same thing. He canceled the order so I wouldn't accidentally be charged at a later date; I let him know how disappointed I was in their company, and we ended our call.

Immediately after that disappointing phone call, I went back to TheFind.com to search for the boots yet again! I was determined to get these boots and wasn't going down without a fight (so to speak). I found them again from a reputable retailer that I trusted and the site showed that the boots were actually in stock in my size. I ordered them at full price this time (by this point, I don't care about the price I want the boots). The next day, the shipping email arrived and we were in business. The boots showed up today at my office and they're beautiful!

Here's where the story gets interesting...I was checking email tonight and saw a shipping confirmation email from the first retailer. Say what?!? (Yes, that was my reaction.) I clicked through to find that UPS claimed that they delivered boots to my house today. I walked outside and sure enough, there was a box behind the bushes. (OMG!) I opened the box and found the boots that I ordered. So, here I sit with two pairs of the same boots. What's a girls to do? Return the full price boots, of course!

The moral of the story: Patience truly is a virtue.

Josie Maran Cosmetics, a Global Green supporter and innovative cosmetics company dedicated to developing environmentally responsible beauty alternatives, has also endorsed the charitable campaign. Veteran's Day Brings More than Memories

It's no coincidence that many people become more thankful towards the end of the year. We launch into the holiday season with Veteran's Day, which is recognized today (Nov 12th). We're thankful for the military veterans who fought for our country. November 11th is the actual anniversary date of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I.

As with most things in life, people express their appreciation in different ways.  We all have our own ways and styles. I know some people who display flags for Veteran's Day, light candles, and have moments of silence or reflection. While others visit homes where veterans live and spend time with them and show their appreciation in person. And, some of us reflect while shopping. I know, it sounds shallow, but retailers are in full support of this type of appreciation. If they weren't, they wouldn't have such great sales, right? Check out the fashions below for some amazing sales!

Trench

So many fabulous trench coats to choose from this season. What color will you choose?

Scarf

I'm really into scarves this season. They take any lingering chill right out of the air.

Tunic

Long sleeved tunics are perfect under a trench coat. Spice it up with different colors.

Skinny_jeans

You can't go wrong with dark denim skinny jeans. They go with everything!

Boots

And my very favorite addition to so many outfits...tall boots baby! What else?

That's right, all the links above point to hundreds of sale items. It's even better than shopping at the mall. They suck you in with the sales and you fall for the non-sale items every time, don't you? I know, we all do it. So, shop away and thank our veterans for fighting for our country and inspiring retailers to have more sales. Shop on!

Happy Searching/Shopping,
Payton

Are You Faux Real?

Leopard_fur_coatFur is on the scene and totally in fashion ladies and gentleman! Look around and you'll find that it's EVERYWHERE!!! Of course, fur coats have always been the most popular clothing item to find fur, but now you'll find it on sweaters, tops, skirts, socks, boots, sneakers, hand bags, everywhere. The funny thing is that when fur comes into fashion, it's typically either faux fur or real fur. I can't remember a time in history when both were deemed cool at the same time until now.Faux_fur_purse

In the past, people who don't believe in wearing real fur might sport faux fur in order to keep up with the fashion times. But this year, we're seeing fashion designers use both and I think it's kind of epic. Whether you wear real fur or faux fur, just make sure you own it when you walk into a room! It's all about the look and the attitude.

THE Perfect Little Black Dress

Thanks to some help from my friend Enid, All About Style, I now own THE perfect lEnid_3ittle black dress! She blogged about this fabulous convertible dress back in late August and I couldn't stop thinking about it. A few weeks later, she posted pics from an awards show she attended and she was wearing the dress! I couldn't stand it anymore. The dress looked so cute on Enid and it's so multi-functional that I just had to buy it (sight unseen, mind you).

As soon as the dress arrived, I put it on right when I got it out of the package! I was so excited to try it on in as many ways as conceivably possible. If you haven't been introduced to convertible clothing yet, I highly recommend them! Not only are the versatile, they're a lot of fun to wear!

Anyway, I put the dress on and immediately started following all the directions for how to wear the dress. It's kind of funny looking before you wrap the dress...it's basically a skirt with two really long wings in front. I really ran it through the paces though. My family thought I'd lost my mind, as I emerged from the bedroom with a large variety of dress configurations. I learned quickly that you have to pull the "wings" pretty taut, otherwise, you lose the top. :o)

Backless_wrap_front_2Backless_wrap_back

When I tried this backless version, I bent over to put on my shoes and lost the top of the dress completely. I am thankful that it happened in the privacy of my bedroom and not in public. Some people may think that this is an "over share," but you'll thank me if you buy this dress and it stays on while you're out on the town!

Halter_frontHalter_back

I tried this halter configuration and it was cute, but then I tried it with the twist in the front and it was very much a call back to the 80's. I didn't twist it as long and tight as what you see here when I brought it around the front so it was so extreme. But, it did mimic the look of a tie.

Not in the mood for a dress? Wear it as a skirt or a top instead. Seriously, this is the best dress ever! It comes in jersey knit or satin; long or short styles. It comes in a variety of colors (despite what's represented here). I bought the short jersey knit in black because I figured that it would be the perfect little black dress that I could wear for a whole host of occasions.

The Boots that Put the "Ugg" in "Uggly" -- No More

Despite the fact that Uggs became popular for their sheep skin boots, the company has branched out into new lines that aren't nearly as "Uggly" as their predecessors. You can now find suede and leather boots that are fashionably cute. Some of their latest creations even have high heels. Uggs still claim that these new lines of boots are very comfortable. I haven't personally tried any on yet, but they've definitely piqued my interest. I love boots, so I'm going to hunt them down and give them a try.

What do you think? Would you try or buy the new Uggs? I think some of them are actually cute (unlike their predecessors. I know, I know, there are a ton of Ugg fans out there. I just don't happen to be one of them, that's all. No offense if you like them. We're all entitled to our opinion, right?

Good Golly It's Almost October

What happened? I must have slept through the last week or something. I hate that! I think I just lived the Green Day song "Wake Me Up When September Ends." I missed "Talk Like a Pirate" Day (Sept. 19th) AND the first day of Autumn (Sept. 23rd). Man, I was really looking forward to "Talk Like a Pirate" Day too. I wanted to dress up for work, eat pirate food, and talk like a pirate all day. Could you imagine what meetings would be like? Aaaarrrrrrrggghhh!

And now, we're officially in the Fall/Autumn season, so it's time to go shopping for cold weather clothes! You can't go shopping for cold weather clothes without celebrating at least a few of the new Fall Trends, right? Hopefully, you live in an area where you can actually wear Fall clothing. We can't wear them here yet, but that doesn't stop us from shopping. It was rainy and cold over the weekend and now Summer's trying to make a come back. And, that's why we pretty much never pack away seasonal clothing around here. Layers are necessary year round in California. But, I've digressed.

Here are a few Fall Trends that I'll be indulging in for sure!

PATENT LEATHER, oh yeah!

Purse TrenchWedge

I've already purchased a Kathy Van Zeeland black patent leather handbag that's very similar to this one. I definitely have my eye on this Michael Kors trench and these cute Cole Haan wedges.

SASSY DRESSES, not for the fashionably feeble

Mini_dressSweater_dressShirt_dress

No matter your style, you're sure to win with one of these sassy numbers. I don't know which I love the most: the boldly printed mini, the clingy sweater dress, or the flirty shirt dress.

ANIMAL LOVER, wild at heart

Zebra_hoboPumpsTunic

I don't know what it is about animal prints, but I LOVE them! I don't really care which print or color something is, if it's animal, I'm all over it. I love this sassy and smart this zebra hobo -- too cute! And welcome to the jungle ladies, you're sure to make any man growl with these sexy Carlos Santana pumps, OMG! Not only am I wild about animal prints, but I'm a sucker for a cute v-neck tunic -- stick a fork in me, I'm done!

And, that's about all I need from the Fall Trend line this year. How about you...which trends are you excited about???

The Beastie Boys' Parents on Fashion

Hair2 Looking around at the fads for guys today it looks like really bad 70s hair meets skater clothes from the 80s. To top it off, the boys who opt for the skater look tend to wear girls skinny jeans to maximize tightness. I guess they don't have any good skinny jean options for guys. There's a business opportunity there folks!

At the opposite end of the spectrum, boys are still sportin' the super low rider baggy jeans -- belt under the bum and the pants crotch at the knees. How hot is that?!? Ugh! To make matters worse, they wear t-shirts that are reminiscent of 80s t-shirt dresses. I don't know where they find these shirts, but they're LONG and skinny. The shirts tend to fall all the way at the knees (hence the 80s dress reference). I'm sorry guys, but when was the last time you found a girl wearing the equivalent of a potato sack (or rather 20 lbs of clothes that bunch, gather and cover every inch of her) and thought she was hot. If you can identify with this statement, then I'm assuming that you only thought her face was hot because the rest of her was missing. Which is exactly how we feel when we see guys running around in mounds of clothes. Blech! It's not flattering or cute, it's just lame.

Really, I think the Beastie Boys said it best when singing about the perils of living with parents (at least that's my take on the song)...

"Get outta this house if thats the clothes you're gonna wear!!!!
I'll kick you outta my home if you dont CUT THAT HAIR!!"

I can just imagine how many households go through that same routine on a daily/weekly basis based on what their boys are sportin'. I don't want to come off as a fuddy duddy, but in my opinion, find something cute or flattering to wear guys. Who/what are you trying to attract?!? I'm confused, but then again, I'm not in the target market. (Thank goodness!) However, I am rest assured that the Beastie Boys parents would agree with me on all this.

What Back to School Really Means

Sunset_5 Going back to school marks the official end of Summer, even if the calendar tells you differently. Kids are both sad and excited during this time of year. Some experience both feelings: pangs of regret that their carefree days of sleeping in and having fun in the sun are no longer; thrills of excitement in starting a new school year and not knowing what to expect. While others are either happy that their boring Summer has ended and now they can return to the routine they know and love or they're forelorn over the schedule and expectations that are forced upon them. Regardless of how any one individual feels about this time of year, the end result is that it's time for change. As we know, for some people change is good and for others it's not.

Even for those who don't like the end of summer/start of school-time, I imagine that the thrill of buying new clothes, a new backpack, new school supplies and a new lunch box is enough to get anyone excited. I know I always enjoyed it. Now that I'm on the other side of the credit card, it's not as thrilling for me, but the shopping part is still fun.

The real bummer about everyone going back to school is the fact that traffic is back in full force! Everyone's back from vacation, the kids' schedules are back in place and everyone's driving to work again. BUMMER! This change affects everyone regardless if you have kids or not. I suppose it doesn't phase the retired folks as much unless they're hitting the freeway during peak traffic times, but something tells me that they're wise enough not to do that.

On the flipside, everyone's schedule's are back to "normal." The previously regularly scheduled dinner time is back, kids are playing organized sports again, and homework is back with a vengeance. Ahhhh, life is chaotic, but organized once again. The days of getting up at noon and eating dinner at 9:00pm are no longer, but that's probably better for everyone anyway.

What does back to school mean to you? Do you have any specific routines that were abandoned over the Summer? What will you miss now that Summer's over?

Fashion Funk

I personally am not in a fashion funk, but I get to feeling a little funktified when I see certain fashions and fads that I don't like. I don't know what it is, but some fashions just put me in a funk. Am I alone on this?

Funktified trends (IMO)...Bubble_skirt

high-waisted pants/jeans
skinny jeans with anything but boots
plastic jewelry
sandals with socks
shoulder pads
turtlenecks
clashing prints & patterns
bubble skirts & dressesTerrycloth
pajamas in public
Terrycloth clothing
ankle high boots worn with skirts/dresses
super low waisted jeans that expose more than you want to see
acid washed jeans (let's leave these in the 80s)

So, there you have it...my random list of 13 trends. They don't call 13 an unlucky number for nothing, right?!? Are there any trends that put you in a funk? Chime in and let us know!
